There are so many good ones! The Bard musical abilities are very cool, but not all musical experiences are restricted to Bards. It's very funny when you try to play an instrument for which you do not have any proficiency ... ha ha, the negative reaction from people around you is hilarious.

I usually end up choosing a druid character with strong skills in perception and sleight of hand. Spike Growth can be exceptionally powerful for a variety of reasons, and druid summons are great. I really like the Spore Druid, but right now there is a bug where the character's equipment glows like a halogen bulb when Symbiotic Spores are activated.

I'm amused, the classes I love the most have some of the lowest votes. Outside of BG3 I would say my favorite character class is Dual-Bladed Assassin Rogue. In BG3 I would have to say my favorite classes so far are Circle of Land Druid and Evocation Wizard. smile

I tested warlock and sorcerer, but still prefer Wizards because they get so many more spell slots and can learn any scroll spell at any time. So yea xD

Looks like charisma classes ftw. For everybody who loves playing as a bard, there’s one benefit that I think even most bards don’t know about. And that is, if you get musical instrument proficiency for all of your companions, one way or another (Alfira, feat, bard class level), you actually become a BAND and can make some beautiful music. (Try it out, you won’t regret it. In one of the songs at least, they take turns doing solos where one instrument shines more than the others.) So I really like having bards in my party.

Argghhh I wish I'd known this earlier. We're Lvl 11 now in my current bard run, and I didn't bother to collect and save other musical instruments. So it's probably too late now to get all party members trained.

You can get all instruments for free from Withers.

Anytime you respec a character into Bard you get to pick a free starting instrument. And seeing as you can pickpocket the respec gold back from Withers for free (As he doesn't react to failed attempts) you can easily get every instrument at any time.

Ah good suggestion. I never thought of respeccing characters in the context of the adventure, but just to see how this musicband works it would be worthwhile to spend some time going on a separate path.
The Tav-band with the PC, Mynthara, Shadowheart and Jaheira. I would just have to find some sexy outfits for all of them.

I think Ranger. Not stupidly OP but highly effective start to finish. Good lines in dialogue, good amount of fun skills and speak with Animals.
To a lesser extent Rogue, but I tend to combine the two. Gloom-Assassin was my first character in full access and still my favorite.

[Storm] Sorcerer. Flavorwise, or TT, I prefer Wizard. However. Because there aren't *that* many spells to scribe, and I stick to a certain amount of spells anyway, a Sorcerer will outclass a Wizard any day of the week, and they get practically the exact same lines in dialogue.

Monks and Paladins are surprisingly fun in combat but godawful boring in dialogue. Clerics same way, they would be way more fun if there was something substantial in dialogue for deities other than Selune.

Aside from a visitor in camp, I haven't touched Bards yet at all, but I suspect they'll be good fun.

Necromancer Wizard, despite it being a pain in the ass to constantly find corpses to reanimate. That's pretty much the only flaw, and its biggest. Especially in later levels where you need 2 corpses or more per long rest.

Necromancy as a school is very well done I think, Its a pretty solid Curse/Summon school with some hefty damage options if you multiclass into cleric or build for damage. Do you need health? Upcast false life and you'll have some solid bonus HP. One particular enemy is annoying? Curse that mf to skip their turn. You lonely? Summon Gary and Bob to take the agro off n deal some damage themselves.

Only downfall is Necromancy only gets really fun once you get animate dead/create undead, yet the problem with said spells still stands. If the Undead summons were either permanent or just summoned from the ground instead of a corpse it would be more enjoyable instead of a reminder that you're using up a finite, limited resource, and I'd be playing it a lot more.

That, and being edgy is fun.

Conjuration has to be a close second. I feel like a pure wizard then.

Pact of the Chain Warlock because it's easy peasy. I don't play these games for the combat.

I'm liking the Great Old One for innate crowd control, even though it's kind of a stretch RPwise for the Durge. Then I found out about Dendar the Night Serpent who could originally be a patron. Yep, she visited my Durge girl while she was napping in the pod.

Sorcerer. I like the idea of Metamagic that allows to tweak spells to your needs very much. Hag created 4 images far away that should be destroyed asap? Distant Magic Missiles. You need to partially pause the battlefield to let allies heal / recover? Careful Hypnotic Pattern. And so on.
Closely followed by Evoker Wizard. You can blast areas without hurting allies, you have 2 cantrips with guaranteed damage (Acid Splash / Poison Spray) and at level 10+ your Magic Missiles and Art of War get really powerful.

Bard was, is and will be my all time favourite, I love flexible support classes in general, the unique lines are the cherry on top.
That being said, I'm also a sucker of lightning based casters and Tempest Cleric/Lightning Draconic Sorc (build) is my second favorite.

Paladin, but I normally multiclass him with either Bard or Warlock. In most games I play a more sorcery oriented charcter, but I find pure casters lacking in DnD based games. They run out of spells faster than a guy stranded in a desert runs out of water and they can't really contribute to melee combat. I am generally not a big fan of DnD, a fireball should hit, no matter what, it is a giant fu...ng explosion after all. That's why I want to play as a melee character, I might not have the nuke potential of a caster, but I can put out damage reliably. Paladin with smite has a strong nuke option and combining it with bard or warlock gives me nice ranged options as well.

Fighter. It goes with everything!


Even split multiclassing, get your second feat at level 6!
Eldritch KNight / Abjurer : You're so tanky, the game automatically renames you into Tavy McTanktank.
Assassin / Battlemaster : Everything drops before they act.
Full on Fighter? Three attacks per action, action surge gives you six attacks unhasted. WHOOOO
Two level dip on *any class? Yup. It works. Fighting style, Action surge, equipment proficiences..
