It's not a live service game but it sure as hell looks like a game that got rushed into release. Live service games receive constant patches, meanwhile Larian have already talked about wanting to "move on to the next project" so I bet this cycle of patches won't go on for long. I do have faith they'll fix these issues, but I will definitely be more careful with buying their games from now on. It's always best to wait several months after release anyway but I got tempted by the hype. I wouldn't be this harsh if they actually just came out with a public statement about it.

I also haven't played a game in my memory that also added so much completely new content in with the bug fix patches, though... I feel like that has to be a significant part of the issue. Patch 4 had 1000 changes to the game, that seems like too much at once.

Yeah. 1000 fixes at first seemed normal to me, hell I even commended them for it - because the game is so massive, right? But to have 1000 fixes for almost every patch? Now that's a cause for concern. 'Trying' is the bare minimum, and it's a $70 game. My friend who saved up for it was livid when it became semi-unplayable because of bugs, and it was made worse because they are encountered way later into the game. I don't know if they'll come out with a roadmap (even that seems too optimistic) but I'll take anything at this point sleep

In fact, when I sent them a ticket, they answered me pretty quickly that they were working on the problem and they were aware of this problem. If you are so concerned about this and you are not sure if they know about the problem, then you can send a ticket.

Been there, done that. Do you think I would be here if they actually fixed the issues I reported? Their lack of communication and questionable focus on content implementation is still a huge issue.

Lisen or read.
They have this as an automatic response.
I reported split screen coop issue at October 8.

Video as proof.
I got the same reply like you Nyloth.
Did they fix it? No
The broke it on every other platform as well.
From patch 3 BG3 isn't considered as feature complite.
Because split screen is a main feature. FOR THE NINE HELLS The entire reason it's not on Xbox right now.
Do they really care? No because we got 4 hotfixes after that 1 major patch note what breaked multiple things.
Like act 3 laag textures not loading stutter SteamDeck not working. And lot of other things. But those things are major features. Especially that on SteamDeck the game is not running at all.

Yes some of the community members gived some workaround for the steam deck.
But if you use them , then you can't play multiplayer at all. So both way" feature complite" is a lvl 7 illusion spell that is not existing in this game.

So yes definitely we need better support and communication.

Yes, I report every single bug I come across to them. I send them my save file and everything. When I am reporting the same exact bug every patch and every hotfix, though, and see more and more people dealing with those bugs prevented them from finishing major parts of the game, and no public PSA from Larian about it, which I consider standard in software customer service, I get frustrated.

At the VERY least, the game currently being unplayable on Linux and thus on Steam Deck due Hotfix 11 should have warranted a public announcement. It should not be up to the players to reach out to get an automated copy-pasted response when the entire game stops working on an operating system. That's poor customer service, in my opinion.

TL;DR incoming!

So, I decided to play through the rest of Act 2 because, despite the bugs I was experiencing, I really want to see the rest of this game so I can discuss it with friends without spoilers. I experienced dialogue bugs, cutscenes skipping, Halsin refusing to follow- but I did get through it, and I did enter Act 3. Things were going OK.

And then I got to Wyrm's Crossing and hit all of the horrible lag bugs others have been reporting for weeks. My game freezes up for 5-7 minutes at a time as soon as I step into Wyrm's Crossing, I can move my character but all NPCs including party members are frozen in place, I cannot open menus (not even to close out of the game), I cannot interact with NPCs, doors or items, there's some kind of audio bug where ambient/sfx audio stops and music keeps playing but skips. When the game finally catches up and loads all the way, NPCs LITERALLY SCREEN SHOT ACROSS THE SCREEN like all of their programmed movement of the last 5 minutes is happening at once. It's wild.

If you look at any recent posts on the official Larian Studios or Baldur's Gate 3 Twitter accounts, 30-40% of the replies on any given post are about the Act 3 lag issues. A significant amount of forum posts are about the Act 3 lag issues. A significant amount of Steam Discussion Forum posts are about Act 3 lag issues. While the subreddit is unofficial and not technically something Larian NEEDS to check, if you look at the pinned Feeback post, that is also filled with people struggling with Act 3 lag issues.

All of these issues started to occur after Patch 4, across PC and PS5, in any save files that were not already in Act 3 before Patch 4. It's been weeks and there has not been a single public acknowledgment from Larian about this incredibly game-breaking issue that makes completing the game impossible. The closest thing to a public acknowledgment has been on Swen Vincke's personal Twitter, from several weeks back, where he made a post briefly discussing work Larian is doing to fix the memory leak issues in their engine. (The post is here, dated Nov 7: https://twitter.com/LarAtLarian/status/1722138531634577426 ) That's the one and only public indication anyone at Larian has made about this, and it isn't even on their actual PR accounts.

I can't help but feel like Larian must be avoiding addressing these issues publicly because they don't want to deter the explosion of sales they're getting from all of the GOTY award sales advertisement they're getting. However, their continued public silence on this issue is just leading to new players excited to see this GOTY award-winning experience hitting Act 3, the climax of hours of gameplay, and not being able to advance at all. It's just generation a lot of negativity towards the game.

This is exactly the time Larian should be using their PR accounts to put out any kind of notice they see these issues and they are working hard on them, which I am sure they are! The radio silence is nothing but a detriment and a frustration to all of their customers.
