No, because they are both familiars. If you are a Ranger with the Beastmaster subclass, that creature is separate and can be used alongside the familiar.
Much appreciated. Kind of figured, but didn't know if Shovel worked like Scratch or the owlbear cub under the hood. Might try to get Shovel to impress on Lae'zel just for my own amusement.
