Fighting on the Aylin seems to get a ridiculous number of misses and critical misses - at one point three out of four attacks by her were crit misses... was I just ridiculously unlucky or is this a fix because otherwise the fight would be too easy...?

She is pretty great in my games. I had one time, where the boss downed her in the second half of the second fight, but apart from that, she is a big help always

Well she goes for K who has a pretty high AC and a reaction attack.

+8 vs his AC22 means she hits 35% of the time, and D20 rolls don't have a bell curve. So yeah, you can get a run where she gets strings of failure.

She can get bogged down with the intellect devourers, and paladins are not big on AoE, although she's not without.

And another big issue is once incapacitated, she revives with only a bonus action and 1hp, meaning if ganged upon, she's whack a mole.

Couple all this with her mighty intro and braggadocio, can seem humourous.

Her chasing Necromites in the 2nd hal of the 2nd fight is not that stupid, as she blows her Smites on Kethric in the 1st half.
Well, there was that one time when she blew those Smites on me, as she was Dominated by the Illithid

If down to 1HP and inside the Bonechill Aura I Shove or Throw her out, to allow her to recover and hopefully chase the Necromites, instead of charging back at Kethric.
