Hi, first time in this thread, but I saw a moderator wrote in it and has something to reply. Spawn fan here, I come in peace, I just need to say what's on my chest because it's started to be heavy.

I'm quoting you here because I think you pointed something really important : this is not a general thread about Astarion, this is an AA thread, made by AA fans. It should be clear in the title.
This way, people who accidenty think they are welcome to discuss everything about Astarion here won't be disappointed or won't make mistakes.

You need to realize many new players don't know the tensions that happened in this forum. I didn't, when I registered (I did it for supporting threads on "suggestions" before patch 8) , and almost created a drama by asking a simple question about Astarion and was kinda traumatized after that. I've made my homeworks since then and I was honestly very shocked and sad about the whole situation concerning Astarion (and still is).
BG3 is a popular game, new players are still coming here, like me, and I think things should be really clear about what this thread really is. I wanted to participate at first and was all "yeaaaah Astarion general thread letzgoooo !" but I took the time to read few pages (I'm glad I did) and was like ".... Ok , well, no". Sorry, I'm 100% honest here, without trying to be mean or anything, I don't feel welcome here, as a spawn Astarion fan. You can try to tell me I am, but I have the opposite vibe.
Honestly ? It's ok, have fun AA's fans, talk about whatever you want, I really don't care.
But then, I've searched for spawn Astarion's threads and realized there were no place left for fans like me in the forum (only the 3rd kiss thread in "suggestions" but it's not a general thread, other threads I found are old and/or locked).

I really would love to have another thread here, only for spawn Astarion fans, share photos, fics, how we all enjoyed the story etc... But I'm not even sure it'll be allowed by the moderation. So I'm asking, is it possible, as long as nobody compare the endings ? I'm just curious, honestly I'm not even sure I want to open one or if there's still a lot spawn Astarion's fans here, many seem to have left to other places because they just have nowhere to exist here. I also understand many things have already been discussed, and people maybe don't have more to say, idk... I'm asking just in case.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to post this message but I'll do it because this whole situation kinda broke my happiness and I need to say it.

Hi @Vastha, a general steer is that we should do our best not to derail threads, which includes not using them to query or challenge moderator guidance. You can always PM us (which is recommended as the best way to make sure a moderator actually sees the question) or in some cases it’s appropriate to start another thread.

In this case, for now I have taken your post out of the other thread into its own.

Our forum rules (linked at the bottom of all forum pages) say:

“For the time being, the Moderator Team have been asked to close any new discussions or debates involving Astarion's character ending (Ascension vs. Non-Ascension). This measure will be re-evaluated at a later date. Discussing the character and the general narratives surrounding him is acceptable as long as the discussion remains civil and respectful of all forum members.”

As moderators, we would assess any reports about new posts or threads and take a view whether they breach any rules including the above one, and when it comes to guidance on what’s permissible or not on these forums those rules are your best guide. But if you’re not sure whether a particular thread or post would be in breach and want additional guidance, you are welcome to PM one of the moderators with what you want to post and ask us for an opinion.

- Remain respectful of game narratives and character preferences.
- Discussing the character and the general narratives surrounding him is acceptable as long as the discussion remains civil and respectful of all forum members.

As long as the thread focuses on fan content and the discussion remains civil and respectful, without inviting arguments about each ending and route, this would be okay!
