How in the Hell does one protect oneself from Hell Spikes???? I have killed all the other Black Ring members except Josephine...and I cannot beat that Bit...I mean Witch. I use Magic Sheild and summoned a Deathknight...and I still can't win. And none of my spells seem to work either. Please...you are all so wise...share some of your knowledge with this one...

You only can run out of Hell Spikes, nobody have chance against it, try death scorpions to kill her. Use potions and the scorpions.

Welcome, Redwitch <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

Gamer quotations

Warrior:
Drink a shadow potion and wait until her Blind spell wears off, then attack. Even when you are blinded, area effect spells which do not need a target will do damage (Hell Spikes, Elemental Hail...). If you drink a shadow potion and use the warrior's spin attack near (but not directly on) a creature, you will hit it without turning visible. Freeze weapons are useful, too

Mage:
Do you have Curse? A few casts of that before switching the Elemental Hail will make the attack much more effective. You can drink a shadow potion if Josephine casts Blind on you, to wait for it to wear off. Area effect spells that do not require a target (Hell Spikes, Elemental Hail...) may not turn you visible (don't know, never tried), but even if they do, they will work when you are blind. Blind / Hell Spikes works well against Josephine, if you get her first, or survive until her spell wears off.

I killed what most people think is the toughest boss in the game (Josephina) in less than 3 seconds by doing the following:
Killing Josephina
4 quick curses (level 5), freeze (level 4), 4 leeches (level 5), one hellspike (level 5). if you can click fast enough, you should be able to beat my time.

If you have a spare skill point, level 1 of the survivor's Deadly Gift combined with a couple scorpion traps would make it an easy fight. You can run up the ladder after releasing them...

I take it not much of your equipment has a vitality bonus? Even as a warrior with only a single stat point put into intelligence, towards the end of the game I had over 500 magic points from equipment bonuses.

Survivor:
If you have a spare skill point, level 1 of the survivor's Deadly Gift combined with a couple scorpion traps would make it an easy fight. You can run up the ladder after releasing them...

Thanks Madame Kiya...I think I'm screwed. ;-) I am a mage...and I have the sword of the gods...but no curse, no hellspikes...bummer. But now I know why I couldn't hit a damned thing...I was struck blind (I couldn't figure out what that white 'eye'symbol meant). Thanks for the counsel. Sigh........ [color:"brown"]

Your wonderful tips have been very helpful.

What i did - release a dread knight on her...that will keep her occupied, so she can't cast blind on you, then run up to her, and hack with your sword. Don't give her anytime to breath, and she should die. If she is distracted, she can't cast any of her spells. Keep on top of her! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Use area effect skills that do not require a target, or drink a shadow potion until the Blind spell wears off.

Josephine summons a death knight first, then casts a spell on it, then casts Blind... in that order, without skipping any steps. Similar to what Carrie suggested, if you interrupt her spell (maybe try Flash Attack, if you have it), she will keep trying to complete the summoning and never move on to casting Blind. As a warrior, with a sword and Stun, I just ran up and whacked her right after the conversation ended, and didn't loose a hit point.

Which spells do you have, Redwitch? Please, list them and the levels, too.
I was blinded very often as a mage and did not have enough shadow potions, so I simply ran out of the room and waited for the spell to wear off. I drank resistance potions, healed myself, drank mana and ran back again.

Which spells do you have?
Kiya

What about Deadly Discs? This kills her deadknight and touches her, if you have the correct radius. And what about polymorph? Even lvl 1 is sufficient. If you play at version 1.34, no bug will happen.

I know, the Sword of Gods gave it away <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> - purple potions, they boost your resistances temporarily.
Kiya

yellow + white = purple (boosts resistances, temporary), you can mix them with lvl one of alchemy skill. NOT the purple elixiers!!!

Meteorite Strike 5
Leech Life 5
Lighting 4
Demonic Aide 4
Spellshield 4
Restoration 3
Aura of Guarding 2
Seeking Flame 2

Your demonice aide is high, cast that, let the death knight take some hits for you, and hit her with your sword as fast as you can.

Yes, the hellspikes hurt me but my mage hopped away and I had Spellshield and Aura of Guarding maxed out. and if she blinded me, I ran out of the room.

Hm, never tried life leech on her.
Banish is good, you can banish her deadknights, poof <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I'd do what Carrie says: Cast deadknight and banish hers - then try out this:
Meteorite Strike 5
Leech Life 5
Lighting 4

how far are you from leveling up, to get one point in survivor curse? This would make things easier.

Sorry, was offline <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

Is Josie your last enemy of the Black Ring members?
Madame MIM <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

A last thing: Kroxy sells spells, maybe you're lucky with "polymorph"?

Thank you for your input, Carrie. So...does Josephina have a finite number of death knights she can send...or is it unlimited? Could I just send in my Aides and eventually just wear her down (I HATE her).

I suppose I could just junk this game and start over with the aim of being more prepared next time...but I'd hate to do that... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

She casts dead knights until she's dead - banish them, you've got the spell.
Kiya

You don't need to junk the game, you'll get her - if all fails, check Kroxy for spell books.

Yes ma'am...Josie is the last of the Ring before I get to The Chaos Demon (or whatever his name is)...I'd hate to just scrap everything and go back to the beginning. And when you mentioned 'buying spells'...if you buy the 'book' does that confer the powers too? I wasn't sure about that...I've just been selling the books to get money for potions...Sheeesh!

This is my first go round at Divine Divinity...and I love it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" /> Yeah...way better than Dungeon Seige...which I liked...

Anyway...what's your advise O Sage One....

Yes, if you buy a book and click on it: you have one lvl more - lvl 5 is the max. So, go back to Kroxy and check. I bought every book I could lay hands on.
Kiya

And alchemy lvl 1 is sufficient to mix potions blue and red = white, very effective for mana and health.

red + blue = white (restoration, brings back mana and vitality pts)
yellow + blue = black (shadow, makes invisible, temporary)
yellow + red = orange (strength, boots strength, temporary)
yellow + white = purple (boosts resistances, temporary)

1.Banish her deadknight and summon yours
2. hit her with your sword (take strength potions) or use your high leveled spells
2. take a shadow potion if she blinds you until the spell wears off

If you're in trouble, run out, heal yourself with white potions, take the purple ones to resist, cast both protection spells, summon again, go in, banish hers and use spells or hit her

Welcome to the forum, qnq77 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

It's the end of Div 1. Morbo is right, we'll know what happened when Riftrunner appears - it plays 20 yrs after Div 1.
Just my guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if the baby is 20 yrs now.

And what about polymorph? Even lvl 1 is sufficient.

I hate her, I truly hate Josephina. I've been trying to defeat her for a week now!!! for a couple of hours every day. The only spell that works is from Divine path, some kind of electric ray lvl 2. But still, after about 15 hours of fight, Josephina's health is about 60%.
Polymorph spell doesn't work on her. She becomes visible for less than a second anyway, and I don't have enough time to reach her after using Polymorph spell - her spikes hold me and then she dissapears.
I don't have Deadly Gift to use scorpion traps, Freeze is only lvl 1 and is definitely insufficient. I'm just in the middle of the level and Kroxy's books appear so rarely.
I've tried all the spells that you all have ever suggested (of those that I have), although I don't remember its names. I even tried using trainer (sorry for that), but it didn't work at all. I become to hate the whole game because of this stupid character.
Is there any spell that can help me defeat her immediately? And if is, can I load it to the game, just like the inventory items from Raze's topic? Help me, I'm desperate.

Have you tried all that is suggested in this post?
The best way i did it, as a mage, was to cast a dread knight (or something else to distract her) and run at her, and keep clicking on her using your sword (if you have the Singing Blade - or some other good sword)
Try that - it worked for me.

Good Luck - she is tough!!!!

I'm Axe Expertise Survivor, but using axe or any conventional weapon is only a waste of time (she becomes visible for too short time while I need to use tens of potions), that's why I started using spells. I tried every skill that I have. Nothing helped, exept for the spell I mentioned before - sth of Divine path, but it makes definitely too slow progress. Help...

The fastest way to close to attack her is using Flash Attack, available at lvl 30, as soon as the dialogue ends hit space to pause then shift scroll up and right click on her, ignore wether she casts her knight or if she blinds you, once you start to attack dont move, ignore the spikes and keep healing you man, she'll die fast enough. Just make sure you've got plenty of hps and plenty of white potions.

Spells is where DD really falls on its [nocando]... most of them are total rubbish even maxed out and many are as much use with 1 pt as they are maxed out.

Poly works if you curse her first - survivor path, lvl 1 is sufficient - just curse her several times by clicking on her and the you'll have a bunny or a frog as I did.

Arwena, if you wish I can send you my save after having defeated Josie - or you send me yours, I'll try my luck with her and then send it back to you. I have a 48/49 lvl mage.

If so, please PM me we'll figure a way out.

If you use a shadow potion and wait for her Blind spell to wear off, you will have time to make an attack. If you Blind her first, she will not be able to cast spells.

I found it more reliable in iZakaroN's SaveEditor to increase the number of unused skill points, then distribute them after loading the game.

If you quick save before running your mouse over an item/chest/merchant or hitting the alt key, you can identify the item or trade with the merchant, then quick load to get different stats or inventory. This can be done repeatedly to get the best stats or specific bonuses on an item (save after finding good candidates) or looking for specific items (such as spell books or charms) from merchants. This might take awhile, but you could get spell books from Kroxy this way.

PS IIRC, someone said that if you use the survivor's sneak skill, you can cast Lightning without turning visible. Enough restoration potions for mana, and you could take her out that way.

OK, I cursed her - she stood doing nothing for a while, but when I switched to Polymorph and sent it on her, she started sending the spikes again. What's wrong with the Polymorph? Should I touch her while using this spell, or what?

How long did you wait after using Curse? You should cast Curse a few times in a row, then cast Polymorph, all within about 5 seconds.

Curse
Curse your enemies and let them suffer your wrath. To use, make the skill your active skill, and right click on your enemy.

Level 1 Targeted creature loses 5 percent offence and 5 percent defence. Resistances of targeted creature are lowered by 5 percent. Curse lasts 5 time units.
Required level is 12. Magic cost is 12.

Level 2 Targeted creature loses 5 percent offence and 5 percent defence. Resistances of targeted creature are lowered by 10 percent. Curse lasts 5 time units.
Required level is 16. Magic cost is 14.

Level 3 Targeted creature loses 10 percent offence and 10 percent defence. Resistances of targeted creature are lowered by 15 percent. Curse lasts 10 time units.
Required level is 20. Magic cost is 16.

Level 4 Targeted creature loses 10 percent offence and 10 percent defence. Resistances of targeted creature are lowered by 20 percent. Curse lasts 10 time units.
Required level is 24. Magic cost is 18.

Level 5 Targeted creature loses 15 percent offence and 15 percent defence. Resistances of targeted creature are lowered by 25 percent. Curse lasts 15 time units.
Required level is 28. Magic cost is 20.

Arwena, which curse did you take? There are 2: the withering curse from the mage path (enemies have resistances against it) and the survivor's curse from the mage path ( enemies have NO resistance against it)

If you take the survivor curse (several clicks to get her really down - her spiritual resistance is pretty high), Josie should have a white spot on her body this symbol shows, she's cursed. Then simply hit the pause button, choose the polymorph spell in peace and quiet and polymorph her.
Kiya

You don't have to touch her, it's a long distance spell, but you should target her, it's no area spell.

I cursed her with Curse (not Withering Curse) spell for about 20-25 times in a row. My Mana is 362, I used about 2,5 of whole amount of it (I drank 3 restorations when mana was about half). No particular spot on her body appeared. She was surrounded with a cloud of glimmering red and pink and a white center. If by "white spot" you meant a kind of white eye on the hips (which I get when SHE curses me) - she didn't have anything like that. Then I tried Polymorph, but she stayed in her own shape. It seems that something that I do I do wrong. Should I use Curse on her longer?

Actually I think that time doesn't matter here. Right after the previous post I tried Curse on her for over a minute, I used about 20 restorations - to be absolutely sure that she should be cursed by the long time. She wasn't. Something must be wrong with the Curse spell.

Sorry, I'm at work right now, I'll try to make screenshots this night - but the glimmer you mentioned is correct for this spell.
Have you got "know creature" level 5? If so, please, tell me how low her spir. resistance is after you cursed her and which polymorph spell lvl you use. And I would really love to have your save - I'm very curious what could've gone wrong. I promise, I just want to test it.

If it is not too much trouble: Zip or rar your Josie save and send it to
kiya1@t-online.de

you don't have to split your mail - Please? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

I never had probs with that combo - so I'm really very curious - and I simply adore to poly her <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Have you tried Raze's tip: About drinking a shadow potion and sneaking up to her then?

Yes, I have. First, I couldn't attack when I was invisible, and second, it made me invisible for about a second or so. That's why I turned to your method.

Well, I'm confused. I saw this screen before anyway, but please remember that I didn't reach the point at which Josie is already polymorphed into anything. This picture reminds me of nothing. Although when I look at the Demon of Lies, I see the white spot you may have meant before - I guessed properly that this is what I should look for: white eye on the hips. Josie didn't get it.

Also picture of Demon of Lies made me confused because it shows Him in both shapes: real and polymorphed at the same time. I wonder if this could be my problem - I never searched for any creature that Josie might have turned into, while she was still standing in front of me in her own body. It comes from the fact that I'm not sure how Polymorph spell works. Does it make a creature exist in two forms at the same time?

No, Arwena, please look at my pics again. I made a sequence - she turns red/white = cursed and then I paused at once - see the words in the upper right corner? Just stay on that link and scroll down a bit. Then you see her in green, correct? That's the polymorph spell - game was paused again, correct? And then I showed you the frog - she's gone.

Only the demon is in several forms, all others polymorphed are only as animals there.

Kiya, I've tried to send my save to you all morning, but the mailserver that hosts my professional account which lets me send such big attachments is still down. At the moment I can only use a free website backup-account which has size limits. Please wait a little big longer.

Drink a shadow potion and take the warrior's special move (swirl attack) - but NOT on her = NEAR her. He stays invisible, she doesn't attack and you can kill her (hopefully.

No difference for me, Arwena - I'll wait. Josie won't run away <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> - I really want to know why curse doesn't work in your save.

Ok, curse, doesn't work in your case, no clue why - here the killing technique = shadow potion + swirl attack + stamina potion (was necessary once in my tries)

1. Josie was directly near the pyramid on teleporting back = so run away
2. take shadow potion (do you hear this highpitched noise? Invisible then)
3. search for her and activate the swirl attack
4. hit next to her, you stay invisible, she doesn't react
5. right click to hit her with your special move
6. maybe you need one stamina potion, this move uses it up
7. defeat and lots of XP -> sic pics

interesting was this: your AC is 171 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> - and it was no prob to kill her. So much for heavily AC'ed warriors <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> ( Gcraighammond? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> )- this swirl attack is very powerful if you have enough stamina <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

In your save I couldn't see Josie when she a bit far away and your char was invisible. Just use this swirl attack and watch for the damage display -> then you're hitting her fully.

Yeah, yeah, yeah!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> I did it! I'm astonished that it was so easy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

My technique was slightly different. I activated special move BEFORE teleporting. While Josie's place was loading, I kept my finger on Shadow Potion fkey and when I was in, I turned invisible instantly. However, when rightclicking next to her, I saw blue damage points flying, but I didn't see her damage display <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

Thanks [Linked Image] Indeed, while using special move, Josie did no harm to me in this short time when I turned visible (before taking another shadow potion). do you mean this? No damage display = the red bar, right? Yes, I'm puzzled, too, wasn't there, not even her name - maybe warrior experts here can give an explanation.

I sent your save to Barnie, he's experimenting.

For my screenie he has this explanation: Josie has this white sphere around her, correct? So she is invisible and standing in the wall shadows - we're still discussing it - because I had this phenomenon with Josie in an open room, so the shadow theory doesn't apply. He can't reproduce it - but I'm going to try it this weekend again and if I'm lucky I can make a shot again.

I musta took the hard road to brootalize that wench. Using a mage, after killing the triple damned pseudo-dwarves, I saved, healed up, and went in to the attack with a dreadknight and skeleton warrior. As soon as she summoned her dreadknight, used aura of command to take over him, then began attacking with my bow. When her hellspikes brutalized my health, I put restoration on standby and abused it, ran low on magic, and used a restoration potion to refill my magic. Took me about 10 minutes and broke my winged helmet (0/20) and my Mythrill plate (0/30). But I finally got her.

Well, without curse freeze didn't work... So I killed her both times by summoning 5 skeletons and my dreadknight to keep her busy and just use level 3-4 Elemental Hail over and over... Elemental Hail stuns the opponent so it took a few restoration potions, but it slowly did the job!

Correct, Josie has high resistances, they must be brought down first (survivor curse), then spells work better. Her lowest resistance is lightning, 75, all others are 100.

Is it impossible to beat her with no spells and without being a warrior? I went straight survivor and I only have a point into a few offensive spells. (only cause I found a book or two)

Max Trueshot, Bow Expertise, Aug Defense with 4 into survivor and 3 into repel damage. Then I have 1 in withering curse, meteor strike, elemental strike, limbs of lead and life leach, plus a few defensive spells. (all were books other than life leach and I needed that for the guy before this wench) I guess that makes my bow user pretty much gimped huh? Specially since I have yet to find a decent bow.

I have already beat the game as a warrior with little to no challenge, so I wanted to try and beat the game as a straight bow user (no offensive spells), but I guess that was the wrong idea, huh?. Level 35 so far as a survivor without many spells. Granted it has taken me along time kiting mobs around room large enough to move in.

Should I scrap this character now

I beat her as a warrior, but without using the shadow potion exploit (just the passive Stun skill and a sword).

True Shot is broke (no damage is added); use iZakaroN's SaveEditor (or from Kiya's site, with description) to remove the point you put into it.

Survivor's Curse is much better than the wizard's Withering Curse, since it is cumulative and can not be resisted (even level 1 cast a few times in a row drops the target's resistances significantly)

Curse + Elemental Arrow (or Poison Arrow) should work well, I would think (unless you are trying to avoid using magic at all). If so, Poison Weapon would help.

[color:"orange"]I guess that makes my bow user pretty much gimped huh? Specially since I have yet to find a decent bow.

Try the merchant in the elven village for bows.
Several people have described archers as being over-powered, especially combined with a large sight range.
Archery as a warrior - my thoughts (some of this should apply)

[color:"orange"]Should I scrap this character now

Josephine is the toughest opponent in the game, so I wouldn't give up easily based on having trouble with her.

I beat Josie as a straight bow user with 2 skills: splitting arrows and poisoned arrow--devastating combo. Limbs of lead didn't help me against her. I guess it depends on what you get on the bow. You need something that will keep her from casting Blind--with Blind on your archer you'll never hit her.

The poison in poisoned weapon disrupts her and doesn't allow her to cast a spell. By using it with splitting arrow you deliver a large quantity of poison and don't need to cast curse on her to lower her resistance. Of course this is only one solution out of many possible ones.

The easiest way I'm aware of, is to disable her from attacking, Kyia style. Last time I did it was with a mage. After I stepped down the ladder, I drew the dwarves as far away from J. as possible, then immediately drank an invisibility potion and ran to the back of the room (where she is), placed myself in a corner, then cursed her several times and then immediately froze her. This should be easy to do, because while you're casting Curse on her, she can't move or attack. Then just attack her till she dies (I used Elemental Arrows), or take care of the dwarves first if they're giving you problems (and then curse/freeze her again and kill her). Obviously you need the Curse and Freeze skills for this (or Polymorph instead of Freeze).
I'm not sure what her spirit resistance is though, so Curse level 1 might not work (because although consecutive casts of it stack together, the duration of each cast is still in effect and it may be too short at level 1 for all the casts to stack long enough to get her resistance below the level required by Freeze or Poly).

i think there talking about josephina at the end of the game. Any way where do you get the sword of the gods. All i have is that noble sword from sacraficing the dagger and amulet. that is the best i've found.

The Sword of the Gods is in the Wastelands, later in the game. But for me the Nobleman's Sword was better. It's just random numbers...

THe trick that worked best with me with Josie (damn she´s TOUGH!!!!) was the following:

Being a lvl 30 mage I found myself in a closed and extremely narrow room surrounded by battle-scarred dwarves that kicked butt! The first thing I did was to run around the room (avoiding her nice spikes, of course) and casting as many lightning bolts as possible (that is the most difficult part, since she keeps summoning the wonderful dreadknight that´s such a pain). Once the dwarves are dead, it´s a piece of cake: just cast "Elemental Haul" (the one that causes Fire, Lightning and Poison damage, I am not sure is that is the correct name, it´s the last one in the list of that kind of spells, sorry about my memory) from a distance and she won´t bother to follow you. It´s a bit hard on potion consuming, but it´s worth it! IT FEELS SO GOOD WHEN YOU GET RID OF HER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers,

Abaddon

it's been 3 years ago.. i defeated that josephine with this spells..

summon dreadknight = lv3?
elemental hail = lv3?
restoration = lv5?
skeletal wall = lv4?
shield = lv2?

im sorry if i had questions marks in it because i cant really remember the level of my spells exactly.. its been 3 years ago.. here's what ive done.. i summon first the dreadknight and the skeletal wall to distract her and the dreadknight that she summons.. if she casts blinds with me, i just have to remember where she stands.. click and cast elemental hail on her.. if she teleports, i check the four corners of the room, if i find her again ill cast the elemental hail again on her, i use the shield spell to resist her spikes a bit then restoration for my life.. when i run out of health and mana, i drink a white potion.. that's all what iv'e done to her 3 years ago..

I just wrote somewhere else how the Forum Community here is really great and though these past few post are old I was wondering what are you people playing today. Just very curious/nosy I guess.

If i'm not on DD i'm playing a little bit of XBOX360 (CaptEncante) I swear this is my last month of WoW or cleaning my backyard so my kids can enjoy it this summer.

I seem to have come up against a seemingly insurmountable obstacle. Whilst I realise this topic was posted some time ago, I have run up against a similar obstacle, but would welcome any help - I'm playing as a warrior.

Shyon said in an earlier post:

You only can run out of Hell Spikes, nobody have chance against it, try death scorpions to kill her. Use potions and the scorpions.

My problem is killing Josie, not the dwarfs - I've already seen to them, but Josie herself. In the quote above, mention is made of "Death Scorpions" - I have quite a few Scorpion traps, but they're immobile so don't seem to fit the bill. I have "Poison Weapon" activated, with poison in my inventory, I also have "Deadly Gift" activated as well. To be honest, this is one of the few times that I would relish some sort of invulnerability or God spell - I've already died at least 8 times! Normally I don't use cheats, but now and then there are uses for them - and I think this is one. Comments anyone?

If you use a shadow potion, you can stand next to Josephine and repeatedly use your spin attack to do damage, without having her counter attack (clicking on the ground does not count as an attack, so you do not loose the invisibility effect).

Enough restoration potions will make you virtually invulnerable, as long as your opponent can not kill you in one or two hits.

To use traps you need to know the survivor's skill Deadly Gift. When you select that as your secondary skill, a menu will pop up with icons of each type of trap in your inventory, for you to select one. After that, you just right click on the ground somewhere to set a trap.
Scorpions will wander around (not a problem in confined spaces such as this); if you want them to follow you, you need to use the Aura of Command spell on them. Some people have reported that using Aura of Command cuts the experience points from scorpion kills (or summoned / resurrected creatures) in half, while others found there was no difference.

Thanks Raze

I realise that the other posts were a while ago, but to be honest I've only started DD a little before Christmas 2008, so please excuse me if some of the problems I ask about seem to be ones most others have already surmounted - please remember, they're new to me!

Anyway, I used Singing Bladed with the Poison Blade spell, and as you suggested, plenty of restoration potions and shadow potions. I read what you had said about the Scorpion Traps, but it appears to me that you can only have one spell operative at any one time - unless the second one is a passive spell.

All being said, I managed to defeat Josephine with the method stated in the last paragraph, so I didn't need to try to use the Deadly Gift Spell.

Many thanks once again, in future, if I need help, I'll create a new topic.

You can only have one secondary skill active at a time. However, if you switch to Deadly Gift you can release a few scorpions (or just one) and then switch to another spell/skill. Also, I'm pretty sure that once you apply poison to a weapon, you do not need to keep Poison Weapon active (just switch back to it when you run out of poison charges, in order to re-apply more poison).

As long as you avoided directly targeting Josephine, you should have been able to defeat her with only one shadow potion and the spin attack (if she is standing too close to a torch you should be able to put it out before attacking, perhaps using Telekinesis). Of course that makes the fight very boring, so you may have avoided that on purpose.

Most problems that most people ask about have been brought up before in the forum, to one extent or another. If that wasn't a big deal when many, many people posted about not having any stamina after visiting the cursed abbey (Halberd of the Rock) or a hanging blessing ceremony (no-CD hack not being able to handle the cutscene there), then it isn't an issue now that the forum traffic is fairly low (though for a more than 6 year old game it is doing pretty good).
Also, most newcomers to the forum are not going to see very old topics, so it doesn't hurt to bring up stuff once in awhile.

Resurrecting an old topic is fine, as long as it is on-topic (that can keep relevant information together and make that topic more useful as a reference). If the original topic devolved into chat or went off on a tangent of other problems or suggestions, though, you may want to post a new topic anyway.

hmmmmm... all interesting ways of killing her. Here is what I did. Every time she summoned a death knight, I paused the game and decimated it with Elemental Bolt, then used resurrect on it. I then cast deadly discs. If I didn't kill the knight, then I used level 5 aura of command on it and took it over. Had about seven dreadknights on my side attacking her. she cast blind on them, but not on me because I went out of range. What was really funny is that I had a tutaman on my side(resurrect + aura of command) with level 5 resurrect. She died in about five minutes. Is actually kind of funny to see her get pwned by her own demons and a zombie vampire. I cast one spell on her, elemental hail, to finish her off.

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
Join the Army, meet interesting people, kill them.
