Taranmo the lolth-sworn drow is my current character. He is a rogue unless a different class that is introduced suits him more. He left the Underdark to get away from his life of being under the thumb of other drow of higher rank, especially the drow women. Upon reaching the surface he cut his hair short to signify his new life on the surface. He learns of Eilistraee and follows her for the freedom aspect but is still not a very nice person, self-centered, callous, and at points harsh but not nearly as cruel as the stereotypical drow. I gave him the dagger tattoo and a female seldarine drow illithid lover to sort of help with the following Eilistraee as a drow from the underdark idea. He is not ashamed of being a drow and uses his race to his advantage (such as intimidating the tieflings who trapped Lae'zel into leaving), and somewhat enjoys watching the shock or fear on people's face when seeing him or when they hear what he reveals about life in a lolth-sworn drow society. I really hope there will be the right type of hoods I have in mind because I like to think he wears gloves and hoods a lot to hide his race in case others attack him on sight, or alter appearance spells.

He really isn't on bad terms with any of the companions, in fact he and Astarion like each other quite a bit if you catch my drift. Shadowheart, Gale and Lae'zel don't seem to mind his company, even Wyll surprisingly. He isn't really fond of female drow so there was no way he was siding with Minthara. He enjoys Scratch and the owlbear cub's company too. And no he didn't kill the mother.

Tavelin "Tav" Hawkes

Race: Human
Gender: Male
Class: Fighter
Background: Folk Hero

Age 31 in 1494 DR (during Baldur's Gate 3)
Born 22 Nightal, 1462 DR
Year of Elves' Weeping
Born under the Sign of the Stone
and with Crescent Selûne under the sign of the Trident

Those born under the sign of the Stone are complex, tenacious and fearless. Proud and independent, they have great strength of character and rarely compromise. They thrive on challenge and have an innate belief in their own destiny.

Those born with Selûne under the sign of the Trident are quick witted, spontaneous and gregarious. They have a lively curiosity and are intelligent, persuasive speakers, enthusiastic, inquisitive and communicative. They love discussing new ideas and projects.

Tav was born on the 22nd day of Nightal in the Year of Elves' Weeping to a mother who believes she is a descendant of Vajra Valmeyjar, a powerful and famous former slave-warrior who escaped the Arena of Blood in Manshaka sometime in the early 1350's, and a father who is an Earth born human who somehow ended up being brought to the world of Toril. When Tav was 12 years old in 1473 DR many months before his 13th birthday, his parents taught him how to be a fighter, in case he may need to defend himself or someone else. Tav got along well with both of his parents, but he couldn't understand why his father did not feel sad that he is far away from the world he comes from with no way back, even though his father once told him back on Earth, he didn't have much of a family. He also asked his mother what made her believe that she is the descendant of a powerful fighter, and she told him it is because her grandmother once told her that her son was the illegitimate child of the Duchess of Ankaram. Vajra Valmeyjar was granted the position of royal warlord and the noble title Duchess of Ankaram because of her combat leadership in the final battles of the Reclamation Wars in Tethyr back in 1369 DR. Tav once asked his father does he know if he is descended from anyone like Vajra, to which his father replied no, he was just an average man of African descent who worked as a grocery store clerk in a rural town with no swordfighting skills. Tav's father also claimed that he felt small compared to his wife, because of her admirable heritage, possibly being the descendant of a strong female human fighter who started out as a slave-warrior and ended up becoming a royal warlord with a noble title.

Years later, in 1479 DR, when an undead warrior terrorized Lendris, a small town outside Baldur's Gate, Tav and his father and mother were one of the few adventurers available to try to keep the undead forces at bay. In 1480 DR, Tav enlisted in the Flaming Fist, following in his father's footsteps as he is a city watch guard. With Tav old enough to look after himself, his mother returned to the life of adventuring. In 1483 DR, he was promoted to Captain. One night while on patrol around the Sword Coast, Tav and his scouting party were waylaid by the largest horde of gibberlings Tav has ever seen. His scouts were killed, and Tav barely survived somehow. He doesn't remember what happened, all he remembers is when he woke up, he saw a beautiful drow woman standing over him. She had long white hair and very bright purple eyes. Though he feared that she was going to take him to the Underdark and tried to defend himself, the drow woman did not fight back, instead, she told him that she is not a Lolth-Sworn drow, she is a Seldarine drow. Though Tav did not understand the difference, but he listened to what she had to say to him. She revealed that she is a worshipper of Eilistraee, and she and her Seldarine drow kin, which she refused to reveal where they are in Toril hope to one day liberate all Lolth-Sword drow from Lolth's control, and that no one knows about the existence of the Seldarine drow yet, not even renegade Lolth-Sworn drow like Drizzt Do'Urden. When Tav asked her why did she rescue him at the cost of revealing the existence of her kin, the Seldarine drow woman told him that the time of revealing their existence to all of the Realms is coming soon, and she wanted Tav to be one of the first because there is something amusing about him. She spent two days with Tav in the wilderness, teaching him how to survive away from civilization, and she gave him a tattoo, three flying black birds on the left side of his face. On the third day escorted him back to Baldur's Gate, then she departed without a trace. Tav never learned the Seldarine drow woman's name, but he wished he did, because during the brief time he spent with her, he grew attracted to her, especially after learning that she finds him amusing. Every day and night he dreams about her.

Later, word spread around Baldur's Gate that the criminal organization known as The Guild is increasing in power. Rumor has it that they've gained influence over the majority of the Baldurian parliament, and the people of Baldur's Gate's outer city don't have it easy. Since the parts of Baldur's Gate outside the walls are nearly lawless, made up of unorganized collections of objectionable albeit necessary business-owners, livestock handlers, refugees and other "undesirables" who were relegated to the muddy streets and ramshackle structures beyond the districts of the Upper and Lower City. Due to the high standards of cleanliness that the Baldurian patriar, the city maintained a strict law that prohibited anything larger than a peacock from entering the city's gates, a law that Tav heavily disagreed against. The people living outside Baldur's Gate are treated so poorly, even the Flaming Fist don't consider them citizens and put up little to not effort of protecting them from criminal activity. Tav grew very vocal about the inhumane treatment about the citizens living outside Baldur's Gate's walls that he informed Ulder Ravengard that he will resign from his position as captain of the Flaming Fist if no further efforts are made to protect the people outside the city's walls. This however, did not deter the Flaming Fist, and Tavelin quit the Flaming Fist and decided to secretly become a vigilante. As the months pass, people start to call him "The Hawk of Baldur's Gate" due to the hawk mask that he wears to conceal his identity, and his tendency to usually strike at criminals from the rooftops with his shortbow, fighting members of the Guild both inside and outside of Baldur's Gate.

And so, from 1483 to 1492, Tavelin had been fighting the Guild by himself while using some of his underworld contacts in the city like Rilsa Rael, the kingpin of the Little Calimshan district of Baldur's Gate who Tav found a kindred spirit in, because she dislikes the Flaming Fist and is sympathetic to the poor citizens of Baldur's Gate. She helped Tav lay low whenever Nine-fingers Keene sent someone to spy on or hunt him down. Tav became the folk hero of Baldur's Gate, eventually inspiring other Baldurian citizens to organize themselves in opposition to the Guild's criminal activities. However, in 1492 DR, Tav figured out that Rilsa Rael is a member of the Guild even though she believes the nobles and rich people of Baldur's Gate are all to blame for the terrible conditions of the inhabitants of the Outer City district. Even worse, Tav also learned that Rilsa Rael is Nine-fingers Keene's most trusted guardian and she had known the Hawk of Baldur's Gate is former Flaming Fist captain Tavelin Hawkes since 1488, but has been withholding everything she knew about Tav and his family from her guildmaster until now, because Tav is a thorn in the Guild's side that she can no longer tolerate. And as punishment for causing the Guild 9 years of trouble, Keene and Rilsa sent assassins after Tav's parents. Tav tried to stop them, but he was too late. Angered by his parents' murder, Tav rallied all the vigilantes in Baldur's Gate, encouraging them to thwart the operations of the Guild. Even common citizens banded together and formed crews to stand against Guild intimidation. But Tav, however, felt that it is time to leave Baldur's Gate and move on with his life because he has too many enemies in Baldur's Gate and no friends. Ever since then, Tav had developed a disdain towards people with double standards and secret allegiances, because of Rilsa Rael's betrayal.

Tav spent a year living in Beregost in 1493 DR, working as a mercenary for hire, then in 1494 DR, Tav decided to leave Beregost and heading north possibly to Neverwinter to find some new thrills in his life, something to dull the pain of the memory of his parents' death at the hands of the Guild, and the betrayal of a woman who though felt sympathy for the plight of the poor citizens of Baldur's Gate, is allied with a criminal organization that exploits the poor citizens. However, halfway to Waterdeep, he got taken by a strange ship in the sky, and aboard that ship, he and a githyanki woman are the unlucky victims of ceremorphosis.
