You wake up after a harmful day and find yourself in a dungeon! Things aren’t looking good, not at all; on the contrary, they get worse. As you can understand, you are the hero and you are finding yourself locked up in the dungeon; you are "tied up conceivable" with a knight of death – the Death Knight- who cannot be unloaded by no means. The Death Knight is a demon, which will follow you during your entire adventure in the world of Beyond Divinity and he will constitute your cynic, wicked collaborator. This is bad! You could not even imagine –under any circumstances – that you will have to collaborate with such a low life. You don’t like him. Nor does he like you…
However you are forced to join your powers so as to disentangle this trouble that a bad demon’s distortion caused in your lives, now unbreakably tied up. Thus you begin your adventure with company. Your aim is to accomplish to find a way to rescue the one from the other.

Beginning
At the beginning of the game you have the possibility of determining the characteristics of your hero as well as the ones from the Death Knight who accompanies you. This means that you handle two characters throughout the game. There are three basic categories of characters: warrior - mage - survivor.
You can as well determine the detailed appearance of your hero - from hair colour up to whether your character will be thick or thin, as well as his likely combination with the Death Knight. For example, you can create a warrior Death Knight, and a mage hero developing exceedingly forces in the battle. The skill system is very flexible: You can add or remove any skill you want from the two characters without any problem.
Everything depends from the way you want to play and also from the strategy that you will follow. There exists four degrees of difficulty levels and I recommend to new players to try two first. This goes with the following advice: "make frequent saves and pause!"

Game Controls
Controlling the game is very simple and is mainly achieved with the mouse. There is a very functional inventory in which all the objects - you carry with you - are categorized. Also under avatar you’ll see your character as well as the one from the Death Knight. There are icons that give you quick access to your skills, portions, the mini map as well as the functional diary, with just one simple click. The diary contains all the dialogues that took place during the game (in case you forgot something crucial), as well as all the missions that you have accepted, which ones you have completed, a map of the regions, which type of enemies you have killed up to now and how many of them you have killed, and a pile of other details that will appear useful in your roaming.
What is certainly useful is the pause key with which you can stop the game at any moment, even during a battle. Using the Alt key can also come in handy, with which you can see all the objects that are placed on the ground as well as their descriptions. Use the Ctrl key combined with left clicking the mouse button to attack an enemy in your neighbourhood automatically. Important detail: You must treat the Death Knight with "love and affection" who is stuck like a leech on you. If he dies then the marriage is over for both.
Till Death Tear Us Apart...

Environment
The number of objects and NPCs you will meet in Beyond Divinity will astonish you. Magical arms and armours, filters, plants which you can use - if you have the appropriate alchemy skill - in order to produce filters, food, drinks, chests, keys, manuscripts and books, all drawn with a lot of detail, make the environment of Beyond Divinity very unique.

Unique innovation is the addition of Battlefields in the game. The Battlefields are randomly generated regions for which you need to find keys. With these keys you can have access to the Battlefields. There you can fulfil certain sub-quests and this way gain more experience and level up. In the Battlefields you can as well renew your supplies. Important is that you can complete the game without entering the Battlefields a single time if you don’t want that. When you have finished the game, the Battlefields are available and open. You have access to the Battlefields and you can play for as long as you want with the character you have created. You will still have the possibility summoning the dolls at any moment you want. They can fight at your side and help you during difficult battles.

The dialogues between the characters in the game are very alive and are distinguished by exceptional humour. Rhianna Pratchett, daughter of the well-known writer Terry Pratchett, has written them.

Graphic - Sound
Beyond Divinity unfortunately does not allocate 3D graphics. However its 2D graphics involve absolute detail, live colours and imagination. The effects at the duration of implementation spells are spectacular plus the obvious detail in your equipment is beyond words.
Partially bugs are popping up in the sound but they got fixed with the latest patch. The musical score in the game, created by composer Kirill Pokrovsky, is unique. The actor, who does the voice-overs for the Death Knight, unfortunately wasn’t the best choice, however his caustic humour and enjoyable lines compensates this. Appreciable are the actors who gave their voices to the likeable Imps.

Wandering about in the enormous world of Beyond Divinity, you will be astonished by the detail in all the levels. You will enjoy the funny dialogues and the intelligent jokes while completing interesting missions. Beyond Divinity proves to be a worthy investment and promises many hours of enjoyable gameplay, rare objects (for the collectors) and a very interesting plot.
