Fishing and hunting is good for hunters, because of the constant need to feed your pet (choose wisely! Except for bears, not all eat everything!)
Plus - any character that cannot heal himself with spells, should learn 1st aid.
And!
Take the time to develop your professions early. The ingredients required get higher classed, as you progress. If you wait too long, you may find yourself in areas where the lower class ingredients cannot be found (That is what happened with my druid - by the time I got around to developping my alchemy skill, I needed herbs only found in the starting region)
