You have mentioned that a https version of this forum is being tested out, but I don't know if it's going to include new features and so on, would be pretty cool if you could tell us more about it.
In the case that it doesn't, I want to make a point for a poll functionality. In my opinion, this is pretty critical for various things, especially for feedback, and in combination with this forum, you'll have a quick overview of the current sentiment through the polls, and you can dive deeper into the replies for more detailed assessments from the users. This way, if the developers so choose, they can get a good feel for what's working great and what isn't, and that would make it easier for them to put their focus where it is best placed.
