BG and PoE were not TB systems, moving had no cost. And you did not go through other characters. Again, none of that gives answer to examples of bad consequences i mentioned. The OP list has many good suggestions, this isnt one of them.
I personally havent noticed a single instance where this was an issue in my whole time playing EA.
