I tended to just ignore the phrasing. But now that I think of it, maybe if they offered some relevant information...
For example, if the mark is powering something that adds fire, you can say "you get a burning sensation". If strenght, poder might Apple. But the ring that make you faster should say "swift". Change what you feel for flavor. Make the mark glow sickly green, disturbing purple, menazing red, etc. That way there is the illusion that it might be some relevant information.
Right now, I don't even remember which colors favours the absolute.
