So anyway...now that i have more time...

I have never been so close to a forest fire in my life!!!!!
They closed the highway after the national park gates to Jasper. I sat on the highway for 5 hours, along with about 50 other vehiucles. It looked like night time in the day, you could see all this smoke billowing in front of us, and when the wind shifted, we couldn't see the mountains behind us.
Then they finally opened the highway again, they had soaked down the cabins along the highway, but we couldn't figure out why they had closed the highway. Until we rounded the corner...you could see the flames of the fire above the tree line. There were about 6 coppers hovering around us...one dropped the bambi bucket in the lake right next to us. It was pretty scary...i did get some awesome shots.

On the way back home, there was no stopping anywhere on the highway where to fire was. It was still smoldering - right next to the highway! The trees looked like skeletons...it was sad to see it.

To think this was a started out as a controlled burn. Well, as usual, us humans can not learn not to screw with mother nature...and this is what has happened.

But, i did get some really neat pictures...i will get some links for everyone to see. It was funny - there were things happening that you would never see in a Canadain National Park ever...when we were stopped on the highway, there were people walking down the highway with beers...playing soccer on the highway...boy was it hot too. Got burnt to a crisp - even with sunscreen on. So much for my creamy complextion...i am far too pale...now just got losts of freckles, and red.
