Hmm, I just thought that if I 'd start a pro-Bush tread (which I would never do. I hate politics and politicians in general) I won't be flamed.
Actually the only troll arround here is probably me

Don´t know about this death, but I mean what i say. There are many reasons to support Bush and in my opinion even more reasons to reject him, but one thing should be clear for all of us.

None of us knows all the details that would be necessary to really judge the policy of the United states.

@ Death and Bernhard

Politic as religion are 2 subjects that always create conflicts between people even good friends.
The best is not talking too much about politic and religion and to be very careful.

In july someone posted in this forum a link about "defaits" of France, it was not really nice for French people.
But it looks funny for everybody else.

In 2003, a lot of US people and English people hated French people because the French governement did not want to support the war in Irak.

The French products as wine, champagne or foie gras were boycotted in the US.
And this year, very few US people came in france for vacations.

A lot of people pay a tribute because of the decisions of their government.
I think that it is enough and we are not going to get in war with our best friends just because one is pro-Bush and the other one is anti-Bush.

Religion and politics are two things which I rather not discuss. For example, today I read a very stupid (IMHO) post about JRR Tolkien being a satanist. You can read it here, might give you a laugh.
As my father once told me: "The world is a stupid place and when something logical happens, it's surprising."

Agreed that dark subjects lead to dark thoughts. I know our goverment ( U.S.) has done some stupid, crazy things in the past, but using depleated uranium as weapons is way beyond comprehention! I know about the "mysterious" illnesses of the Gulf War vets. They (our govt) told us that it was because of manditory immunization shots the soldiers recieved. A lie I guess, as many people here (U.S.) suspected in the first place. Nothing could be proved, and if it ever was proved, chances were the truth was shut down so fast, it would make your head spin. Where I am in Ohio, they sent all that mail (anthrax 2001) to a facility just north of where I am, to be irradiated,(kill the anthrax)which made the mail brittle, I hear. I am glad none of it was adressed to me. Radiation just doesn't go away, ask anyone who is taking chemotharapy. Another habit they have here in Ohio, is building schools on old military bases. One such school in Marian, Ohio, also relatively close to where I am, has a extreamly high rate of leukemia.(over 100) They, the Enviromental Protection Agency, and the Military both hunted around the school area, took water, soil, air samples. All they could find were some old 55 gallon drums that were in the woods close to the school. Ah, of course, there was nothing harmfull to be found there. IMHO, our goverment (U.S.) is not only practicing genocide on other countries, but also practicing genocide on their own people. Somehow, whenever anybody say's "Hey look at this!" they go away, the subject is changed, diverted, forgotten. While our goverment (U.S.) stands with their palms up, and shoulders hunched, saying "I don't know. There will be a full investigation." Uh hu...

Like DATD I dislike discussing politics and religion here.
I done before though. And it was fun.
The only problem is that some ppl take it to personal sometimes.
When we talk about American politics we're not attacking the Americans on the forum or Americans in general. Same for Belgians, Germans, Dutch,...
I guess it's more easy for me as I'm an atheist and also don't believe in any political movement/party of today. None of them have my support. I guess keeping distance is also why I'm disgusted about politics and religions.
IMHO they're both just tools to keep the public stupid, ignorant and under control.
Both have been (mis)(ab)used sooooooo often to justify wars and numerous other needless, cruel "things".
Discussing things has no use when both parties really believe in something. On the other hand, I don't see anything wrong in telling others how you feel as long as you respect that others might have a different opinion.
And as long as you realize that others here are not out to get you.

I agree Seth. I have never been good at the soapbox thing. I just wanted to post some observations of things that are happening around me. I can't help but wonder why these things are happening. What is in the air? What is in my water? What is in my food? Does that not qualifie as a sign? I think, I hope what Luc meant was that she is not going to post in this thread anymore. She is sensitive, as we all are...

No, Luc will not post in the forum anymore.
A lot of people did not understand it quite well.
I really hope that she will change her mind.

Unfortunately Luc left our boards and I doubt if she will come back in the near future. She feels very insulted. In case someone (Nero?) wants to wright her something I will be happy to send her the message.

I am trully sick after seeing all those anti-Bush posts. Everywhere I go I see "Bush, the antichrist", "Bush the stuffed monkey", "Bush the ________".

Yeah, I hear you. I'm tired of reading anti-bush this and that on forums as well as hearing it from various people in my real life.

This is why I stick to the "I'm right, you're wrong" philosophy instead of arguing.

People have their right to dislike Bush just as much as I have my right to support him. I also have the right to ignore people I don't agree with.

When someone at work starts up with their anti-bush propoganda I just look at them, shrug my shoulders and say, "Okay," as if I don't care about what they have to say. Truth be told, I really don't care. If they continue talking, I just walk away.

They have their opinion, I have mine. I don't try and talk to people about my opinion, and I prefer people to not try and give me their opinion.

Apathy is an amazing thing when used properly.

Anti-this, Anti-That, it does get on my nerves a lot in the UK, and when you ask them who they voted for more often than not they don't vote!!!
If you don't vote you've got no voice ,so shut it!! Bloo-dy Anti-this and That Brigade.

I agree. If you don't vote then you have no right to complain about who was elected. If you don't like who is in there, then maybe you should have voted and let your voice be heard when it actually mattered, not when it's too late to do anything about it.

I rarely talk politics, but I flat out refuse to discuss various politicians with people who didn't vote. My thinking is, "If you don't care enough to vote, then I don't care enough to talk to you."
