Just in case there are other people like me out there I thought I would post the highest stat requirements I have seen for a bow. I am always annoyed when I find an item that I can not use so here is the highest requirements I have seen so far:
Strength: 9 Agility: 24
I will update these as I find higher requirements.

One of the best bows that I found in the game(not counting the aftergame battlefields, where much better bows exist) was:
Hare's Elven Bow of Speed piercing 48-141 speed, init, accur +13% each agil+3, con+3, regen+3, hearing+3 bone resist +9 required agility 56, strength 22

that's a nice bow tom. here's a few others, all found in-game (i just finished today so haven't tried the after-game BFs). these are elven - elven1 elven2 elven3these are shadow bows - shadow1 shadow2 and these are my favorites, the raanaar bows - i used this first one for quite some time due to it's nice damage, attributes and +13% in speed, accuracy and initiative. raanaar1 raanaar2this is my bow at the end of the game. it doesn't have the plus percentages in speed, accuracy and initiative, but it does a ton of damage. and at this point my accuracy, speed and initiative are so high, they don't really suffer. raanaar3 here's the first raanaar bow raanaar1 equiped to show the difference in accuracy, etc. but notice how it's a minor thing at this point - and the damage (total damage area) is so high with the raanaar3. i highly suggest finding and using a 'good' shadow bow for the first couple acts of the game. the addition of shadow damage along with the 'regular' piercing damage is hard to beat. later, you'll find it doesn't matter so much and the increased damage of a raanaar (or elven) bow more than makes up for the lack of shadow.

What are "after game" battlefields? I assume these are battlefields that you can go to and play after you finish the game.
Don't do today, what you can put off till tomorrow.

Well, I thought that was a nice bow until I saw the ones that you were hoarding, lego. I also had a shadow bow but it wasn't as good as the elven one nor was it as good as the shadow bows that you found. I was going to say why didn't you sell some of those items, and than I noticed how much gold you had. How much richer could you get, right? Since my DK was the archer, I sell the bows that I find in the agbfs.
You must be one of the few people that found alot of holy waters in the game, eh? 246 Agility!? I found one in the game, and one in the aftergame battlefields so far. I didn't even bother to put pts in extract to use the holy water until the agbfs, and that was only to find out what the big deal with holy water was. I can see how getting a few of them could really make the game very easy.
For fun, I liked using poison arrows on mages and clerics. They couldn't cast spells at me, if they were too busy throwing up a lung!

you're right about the holy water. i did choose to pump agility (mostly) and strength and survival for my archer - if you look at the 'base' numbers for my hero, they're 45,96,4,1,28,10 (str, agil, con, intel, surv, speed). you can see i really put nothing at all into constitution, intel or speed, and though i had a perm potion boost of 70 in agility, i'd still have had a 176 agility even without the holy waters (96 base + 80 equipment). i just never saw the reason to add any points into constitution. i've always been one whos philosophy is NOT to add to hit points, instead make yourself unhittable - you get by quite nicely with minimal hit points (besides, equipment will make up for it while you're boosting regeneration).

A perm potion boost of 70? Overall, my hero had only 68 agility, when I finished the game. In games like BG or NWN, I usually go for a higher dex than con, to also avoid being hit in the 1st place. Nothing wrong with that strategy.
