The game crashes back to windows when I try to leave the dwarven throneroom after getting the axe. The game always hangs/loads/freezes a sec when you get all your gear back when you leave the throneroom, but when I got the axe, it crashes back to windows when I try to leave the throneroom.

(and I was stupid enough to save INSIDE the throneroom)

any ideas?

I'm useng the latest version of DivDiv I believe.
I'm running it on a AMD XP somethingsomething and a Geforce 4 TI somethingsomething. I have the latest drivers (I updated them a week ago).

Do you have a recent save you can reload?
Did you try both running out and talking to the guard to leave?

There are ways to bypass the guards, teleporting by hex edit or temporarily swapping inventory files to get a duplicate set of teleporter stones (basically the same options as if you were stuck in the easter egg area). However, you also need your stuff back. Perhaps killing the guards would get them to drop everything, but make sure you save under a different name before trying that (Poison Cloud cast near them would kill them without a reputation drop).

I tried different saves with the same result, but I'll try to teleport/hexedit out of the room with an old save...

If you have a recent save before entering the throne room, it would probably be easier to avoid giving your stuff away in the first place. Toss a teleporter stone past the guards and teleport into the room, or use Poison Cloud to kill them.

Someone else had a similar crash getting their stuff back after the fight in the cellar of the Dwarven Bread inn, but dropping everything in the inventory before talking to the manager avoided the problem.

Yes, I haven't been able to play yet, but my guess is that some items that are being transferred are causing the crash.

Or maybe it's just because I'm carrying almost every document, book, and piece of paper with anything mildly interesting on it...

I got in and out easely before though, the only thing added was the axe thing...
anyway, thanks for your help.

Okay, I dropped half of my inventory before entering the throneroom, and I could walk out without problems. I still don't know what item caused the crash...

I can finally continue the game <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Glad you got it working. It could also have been the number of items in your inventory, rather than any particular one, which caused the problem. I usually made sure I didn't have too much excess stuff when talking to the king; since the guards don't necessarily put things back the way they were, it is easier to reorganize that way.

I think you may be right, I had 100+ items in my inventory.

(I tried to collect all the book-art in the game) I just threw it all on a big pile in front of the throneroom.
