If you go through the training grounds without the disguise on and slaughter everyone, will it get you stuck. I am stuck at the levers that say beware of traps, there are no doors I can open. Anyone I saw, I killed if it let me.

You will miss quests and a couple teachers if you do not use the disguise, but you can still proceed that way. If you use the disguise, you can always remove it at the end of the act, and go back through the citadel killing everyone.

Did you click on the levers in order so they say 'Beware.. ..Of.. ..The.. ..Traps' (NW, SW, NE then SE)? This will open the door on the west side of the training grounds.

Since you probably killed the soldier in the north east lever room who would have warned you about this, the traps are connected to the torches; keep to the left, then right, then left and after the corner keep right. You can also send the summoning doll through first to find the traps.

no, if you are not in disguise you won't have half the quest of act 1 but you won't be stuck... (i'm quite sure of that)

the order of levers are

1: north-west
2: south west
3: north east
4: south east

the door that opens is slightly south to the nort west corner of the room

edit: sorry raze, i didn't see your reply

i found that even if you were wearing the disguise, sometimes it doesn't work. If you engage one then depending on the proximty of other troops to you, they will turn against you to and then the rest. What I found to work the best was as stated before don't engage any troops but also play the area in sneak mode. Even in sneak mode you can still talk to everyone.

Even attacking various guards who turn hostile, other soldiers nearby should not react negatively, unless they get caught in the crossfire of an area effect spell or splitting arrows, etc.
Some guards can be bribed to overlook your lack of identification papers, but they are easy enough to kill it isn't worth it.

raze is correct about the armor removal trick.
when you go through this area wear the armor, complete all the quests, gain the experience, and don't bother with pickpocket ! (you're gonna get the stuff anyway)
after completing the final quest objective, simply remove the armor. you'll now be attacked by all your 'fellow' guards. kill them and collect their droppings. it's a goldmine, especially of arrows.
by going about this way you'll gain BOTH the experience of the quests AND the experience/goodies of (killing) the inhabitants. sweet.
this will also work in other acts - complete the quests, kill everyone.
