was the difficulty levels. In Divine Divinity, Easy was very easy, medium was still pretty easy, and hard was insane, just to get through aleroth catacomes/dungeon.

I think Larian did a much better job by doing the difficulty levels in Beyond Divinity. very easy was... well, very easy. easy was still pretty easy, and medium was a good level for lots of people who liked playing.

Hardcore... now, that... well, in my experiance in the game, it was insane, but plausible. It was very hard to play without going to the battlefields at all ( though could be done ) and you had to use the pause button a ton, but it was very hard, but better then the hard mode in Divine Divinity.

Very easy: it actually seemed to easy to me, when I tried it. No challenge. And that was the point, it was very easy! A baby on drugs could do it.

Easy: More challenging but still, had hardly a challenge, you didn't even have to press the pause button, no real chance of dying until perhaps the latter levels.

Medium: A good level, in which you had to pause the game occasionally, go to the battlefields everyonce in a while to get a potion, sell some junk, etc. A challenge, sort of, but not challenging.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Hardcore: Now, that was a challenge, for almost every single battle you had to pause the game, or else be slaughted. For instance in Act 3, where you were in the room by Zandalor ( the fake wizard, skeleton ) there was a room full of ghosts, they just slaughted you if you left it on real time. YOu had no time to cast spells, slash them, or drink potions. I think Larian did an excellent job of balencing the game.

I cannot add much pro or contra to that, but I must say that indeed "the journey is easier" when you've visited some Battlefields.

I agree with Lews, the difficulty levels are very good in Beyond Divinity.
Larian took care of each type of gamers offering a very easy game to a very hard game.

Yes hardcore is not so insane and it's a better challenge playing hardcore without visiting the Battlefields.
The Battlefields make the game easier because you can easyly learn new skills and you can buy a lot of potions.

Playing with 2 warriors i did not have to use the pause button at all.

Playing hardcore you have to fight a lot more monsters than in the other levels.
For exemple, at the beginning of the game, there are 2 ghosts level 5 in each cell of the prison (ouch it was hard to beat them).

But i tried to fight only two or three creatures at the same time because it was impossible to survive fighting a great number of strong creatures (for exemple the earth elementals in act 3).

I completely agree.
Congratulations to the Larian team.

I humbly bow to you all.
I cannot survive at all in BD without using the pause button even on Easy Mode.

Yes but i said that my 2 chars were warriors.
It's easier than playing with a mage who needs to drink a lot of potions or to change his skills during the fight.

Just try fighting those two Gargoyles you meet in Act I on Easy Mode vs. The totally Insane Mode and you’ll see a big difference.

Anyway with more monsters to fight i could get more XP points and level up easyly.

I personally changed the difficulty to Hardcore after a while during Act 2. Game gets harder but it's still very plausible to finish it. Did have a lot of problems with those black monsters (Dark Horses?) somewhere near the end.

They are no "dark horses". They are just Shadow Creatures like the rest - but with more legs. The Official Strategy Guide has a good picture of them.

The shadow creatures were great.... but after fighting them for about 4 hours (when we tested the patch), i had the most disturbing dreams about them!!!!!! I even woke up STILL seeing them.... so i told hubby to "SLOWLY switch on the light.... careful there are "spiders" (i think i refered to them as spiders in my dream) EVERYWHERE!!!!"

Naturally i am STILL being laughed at

Now for those who are wondering what i dreamed

Spoiler : The story of the "patch" (as recalled by a dreamer)

Once upon a time before the time of the infamous patch 1.47 Larian studios created shadow creatures.... they were powerful, plentyful and had the ability to crowd a screen so badly that you couldnt see your characters in the turmoil.

Shadow creatures were known to leave millions of their young in transparent octagonal crystals everywhere... piling in corners of dungeons, hanging from the roofs, in cocoons, in chests, EVERYWHERE....

Now the young never "hatched" out of these crystals, they were just there for visual effect.....

Until something went wrong with the introduction of the patch..... and they started hatching....

The only catch was that no-one was aware of this.... until i got trapped in the dungeons (of my house) with all of these crystals that are now alive with movement of the young shadow creatures (spiders - still looking exactly like shadow creatures though)... but i cant let anyone know about this, until i excape from the dungeon!!!!!

And then they started hatching!!!!!

I valiantly fought my way through the dungeon (my DK being misteriously AWOL, being forced to drink potion after potion... and finally reached the last room in the dungeon (my bedroom)... By this time i am out of potions and VERY VERY tired, battlebruised and emotionally overloaded....

So i "wake up" in my room.... Hubby turns into the DK (not in shape, but in functionality at least, since he is my battle partner).... and there are crystals EVERYWHERE!!!!!! all alive with movement.....

So i slowly crawled over to my sleeping DK and very very carefully woke him up... telling him not to make any sudden movements because the "spiders" will see us.... I told him to SLOWLY reach over and switch on the light.... which he DID..... all while he is rolling around laughing at me.... when my light got switched on, reality came crashing back to my senses

<<--- DONT highlight the text if you are NOT wearing a seatbelt

Even now i STILL get teased about the "spiders"

(Hello Everyone, I'm new so I thought in my first post I should say hello to everyone.)

About dreaming: I also have a lot of dream about BD, ít's really strange to stand actually in Nemisis at night.

[color:"pink"] About Pink: Pink Deathknights are cool [/color]

And then something ontopic: I don't know anything about the technical stuff of games and so I will not complain about bugs etc. because I think there are enough other players that can do that.

I wanted to say, that the makers of are really evil. And this is actually a compliment!!! Because:

Spoiler : This is the second time I finished a Divinity game, and being furious about not killing the child of chaos. I really hope you're making a new game now where I can finally kill this .... (I'd better not say that) Child of Chaos

So compliments to Larian for teasing me!!

I agree with you. If the Larian team would not be evil the Divinity games would not be as good.
