Hi there fellow RPG fans!
I post here because I feel that this is a forum where I can find people like myself - people who enjoy good games even if they are slightly old-school and does not cater for the mainstream market. Personally I'm proud to admit that I often enjoy games that no-one else seems to notice or play.. and being in the game industry myself (I'm a programmer at a game company) I have a special fondness for games that are developed by a team where the big money from a tried license isn't necessarily the ultimate goal. Much like our good friends here at Larian (whose work I simply admire btw!)!
Recently I came across a german action/rpg game called "Neuro Hunter". At the game website they described the game as a strange mixture of "Gothic", "Deus Ex" and "Mac Gyver"! Being a big fan of the first two titles I immediately took notice of this strange title and bought myself a copy.
And this brings me to the purpose of this post - if any of you out there are looking for a new title to play I would like to recommend "Neuro Hunter" as a candidate. Sure, it has quite a few areas where it becomes clear that this is a game developed by a slightly inexperienced crew without the backup of a strong license or multi million dollar budget. The game certainly has some rough edges and the dialog is quite corny and stereotype at times - but somehow it still managed to capture me and I find myself playing it alot these days.
The game is only out in Germany and England but I got my copy very cheap at ebay (£11 with shipping to Europe - Denmark in my case) so it should be within the budget of most players. So if you're willing to take a chance, try it out and tell me what you think Maybe it's just me being a strage wierdo or the game might actually be kinda good for people like us... I dunno...

I looked the game up on Google and I must say that it looks very inviting! I live in Belgium, so I hope i'll find a copy somewhere eventually.
Say, what software developer do you work for? Or what games have you worked on? (If you can't tell, I understand )
Anyway, thanks for the tip
I am in blood Stepp'd in so far, that, should I wade no more, Returning were as tedious as go o'er.

Hmm... What's the game like? It might have been because of my current headache, but my feeling was that you only said you liked it, and not much more. And due to that very same headache I don't feel like browsing Goggle for reviews either .
And what interesting companies does our neighbour to the west contain? May I guess that you don't develop RPG's? And since I'm 18, I might allso ask: so it IS possible to make a living as a computergame developer up here? If you havn't noticed somewhere I'm from Sweden. We beat you in football (allmost) !

A yes, sorry about that, I completely forgot to actually tell about the game Well, it's hard to put a label on it actually. For a start - it's not a hardcore RPG so don't expect that. Its more like a story-based action game where the RPG aspects are that you gain xp by killing the monsters and solving the quests, which you then spend customizing your character. The world is kinda sci-fi (ala. Deus Ex) but the story takes place underground in a tunnel world (a bit like Ultima Underworld I guess) where you have to collect and trade all kind of junk to survive. So it's a kind of low-tech sci-fi if you get what I mean You'll see lots of computer terminals, but many will be old, broken and out of order. If you decide to go that way you can learn to build all kinds of stuff from the junk (ie. combine a rusty pipe and a metal heading and you got a metal club). The tunnel world is split into three colonies - miners, biologists and prisoners (feels a bit like Gothic with the different camps) and you'll visit all colonies through the game. Finally there is a hacking/cyberspace part to the game when you want to take control over security systems and turrents in the tunnels. Again, it's important to stress that the game isn't nearly as good and polished as the other games I mentioned above - but then again, those are also among my all-time favorites!
About myself - unfortunately I'm not lucky enough to work on an RPG, but I still consider myself lucky to be able to work with games for a living. Each day I get up I look forward to going to work! Before I got my current job I worked on the "Ultima 1 - A legend is reborn" project (later to be known as ERA) and now I work at a company called Deadline Games where we work on action titles. We just recently released our latest game "Total Overdose" for the PS2, Xbox and PC. Maybe someday I'll be able to work on a RPG title again

I had Neuro Hunter too. After some problems with Starforce i can play it now. My first impression is not bad. But also not a Hit.
I dont like the First Person View, but i think i will spend more Time for this Game.

Can you tell me, how "cracked" star force. No, my problems have to do with a damaged internal DVD Drive. So i have use an USB external DVD Drive wich will not work with Starforce. I bought a new internal Drive and this will fixed the Problem.
