Hi everyone, I've been hearing good things about this game. I'm a fan of the BG series, PST (haven't beaten it yet but getting there), and many other great RPG's.

Anyway I'm interested in this game and am considering purchasing it. I found a really good price for it brand new, but before I buy it I had 2 questions hopefully somebody can answer.

1) Does the game change at all by choosing one or the other gender? Example: Will conversations or NPC's attitudes change any if you're playing a male or female? This can add some replayability to the game which is why I ask.

2) It seems this game has StarForce Copy Protection, which makes me worry. Now I'm not one to judge something until I've seen it for myself or I'd stay away from this game. So has a large percentage of you people ran into any problems due to the StarForce Protection?

Thanks for any help you may give, Peace!

It was a long time ago i played last but i think its a yes on 1) Im sure there are minor changes but i dunno really.

2) does it use sf? Didnt know that. I really love this game so i dont wanna scare you from playing it and i dont know if this has anything to do with sf, but...
Well, while i was playing once my hd broke, unfixeble, had to return to shop. Now i dont think this has anything to do with sf, just with my hd but well, dunno <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohh.gif" alt="" />

Hi MrRoboto and welcome ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

Discuss we about <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> or <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> ?

There are different start skills for every hero type in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> but in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> aren't differences between male or female only which character class you choose.

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> doesn't use the star force copy protection but one other copy protection scheme. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> use star force copy protection.

Character gender does not have any impact, except cosmetically. In Divine Divinity (DD) there were one or two minor conversation differences between male and female characters, but AFAIK this is not the case in Beyond Divinity (BD).

Only a small percentage of people have run into a problem with Starforce (the drivers will not install under the 64 bit version of Windows, so that may be a problem if you are an early adopter and do not dual boot or otherwise have access to a 32 bit version of Windows). Some people are critical of Starforce, though I don't know (and have not checked) if it causes more problems than any other copy protection scheme.

DD had some differences in dialogue based on gender. I am not so sure about the same in BD (Beyond Divinity), though. In any case you will have to adopt completely different style of gameplay depending upon the profession (wizard, warrior or survivor) you choose. That means you can replay the game thrice without loosing all the interest

Starforce is known to cause problems with 64bit windows. You should know that this forum is always there to help you.

One last thing for the male/female characters:

The starting stats and skills you get initially are different(and cannot be changed), but it doesnt effect the game in the long run.

Thanks for the welcome and the replies all!

And yes I'm talking about Divine Divinity not Beyond Divinity. So Divine Divinity doesn't use SF protection? I'm talking about the US version of the game, I know that most of the time EU and US versions have different types of protection.

Although I think I've been convinced that the game is worth getting regardless of the SF protection.

Thanks again for the replies!

Divine Divinity doesn't use SF protection.
I have the US version of the game and i did not have any problem with the copy protection.
The US version has the same editor than the EU versions, it's CDV.
Just think about downloading the latest patch and keep a lot of savegames on your computer.
Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity are great games.

*Sigh* I'm very slow in the head it seems.

I just realized that I posted in the Beyond Divinity forums instead of the Divine Divinity forums. So sorry about that lol.
