I have been told not to buy Dark age or Ultima or anything of the sort....my friends insist that it would be the equivalent of crack to a junkie for me....

well lucky me as i've yet to buy any game that gives me regret. naturally i'm stingy & stinginess can save quite an amount of money in the long run especially when u know how hard it is to earn it. so what i usually do is download the demo & then judge the game. if not then i'll borrow some from friends then make my judgement.

moral of the story: be more prudent & critical. if u're not sure, then don't get it. & have a lot of gamer buddies that don't mind lending u their games.

I agree about crusaders of might and magic. What a terrible game. I really hope that if it wasnt for the fact that money hungry 3DO own New World now, this game would never have been made!!

As long as people are willing to fork out their hard earned cash for them. And they will. Franchises like C&C and Tomb Raider show that a game doesnt need to be great to be a hit. There are people out there without the imagination to require something new or original in their games. Buying a franchised game like that, its like eating Macdonalds all the time, it stops you from being hungry, but its not particularly interesting

Worst game ever for me, that whould be Force Commander, it was anounced years as -the- StarWars RTS game, but when it came out ('bout 3 years late) the graphics were very much outdated.
Also the game was not that fun to play, it had too few units, too few buildings (about 4-5 on each side)...

...on the other hand it was cool to command a squad of AT-AT's

I have Force Commander, but it behave somewhat SLOW on my PC that I never rreally ßplayed it.

I mean - I thought my 800 Mhz Athlon with GeForce 2 GTS would be able to run this game smoothly, but instead it acts so slow, I cannot understand it. Even the menu.

Indeed the game loading and menu's were extreeeeemeely slow.
On the other hand, the gameplay itself was quite fast om my PII 400.

I also noticed quite some graphics bugs in the game, fe. when Darth Vader came in to give you orders he looked completely green with a checkered pattern... or maybe it was just a lousy try to simulate a hologram ! ROFL !

Maybe it was Yoda in disguise or Darth Vader in camo-pants?

Realy, I can't understand that LucasArts let it be released.

Lucas Arts have really gone downhill. Is this the same studio that gave us all those great graphic adventures? Over the last several years all they have given us is a bunch of half arsed star wars knock offs. The few good titles have been developed by third parties (Kudos to Raven software). Lets hope Black Isles Knights of the old Republic is as good as it looks in the previews.

KOTOR's by Bioware. Why everyone mixes them all? I mean they start with B but the names are different!

That died with Red Alert 1 in my opinion. No balance and a crappy story.

The bad deals $: Freelancer, Star Wars Galaxies, and Masters of Orinion 3.
GOOD GAMES: Battlefield 1942, Neverwinter Nights (Good Mod's community), Divine Divinity, NOLF2, and Rise of Nations.

My 2 cents.

Force Commander was developed by Ronin Entertainment.
Which suprisese me, because they also delivered classics like MechCommander, X-Wing and Tie-Fighter !

I guess they must have had a 'change of team' over the past years.

Anyway, the LucasArts QA should have watched them more closely....

There exists only one Patch for ForceCommander, and I used it. Still the menu renmained slow.

I tried to play Star Wars Starfighter recently, but it didn't run. It aborted anytime, saying it was not able to properly initialize the graphics driver or something similar.

I finally started to play it, after I de-activatedthe whole DirectDraw support in DXDIAG, and re-activated it again.

What I really hate are gaes "exclusively for a console" - which means I - as A Stasr wars Fan - am supposed to buy a Playstation or Gamecube or better both ...
