Dear Divinity fans,
While using my Editor to change a very long name of a randomly generated item (61 characters long) I realised that it did not show up because version 1.3 limited the name size to the standard data base 40 characters size.

1-That is why I have added the ability to see and edit names (read and write) up to 80 characters long.

2-There was also a trivial bug concerning field entry addresses that did not cause a serious problem else than miss-categorizing a couple of melee axes into head armour , but fixing it secures high reliability and performance.

3- The new list box size and the new text box size now do not fit into the 800x600 format and the editor V1.4 must be run in the (1024 x 768) resolution.

4- The GUI is now more relaxed and user friendly with some extra but minor added features.

The new executable can be found at this URL

http://www.eonet.ne.jp/~hemetis/

Enjoy.

Hey,

Just out of curiosity, is there any way to alter the item names in your editor? I can't seem to do so now. I want to model my DD warrior up against my Everquest one, gear included.

Sure you can; when you double click an item or click the edit button the editing window opens.
In the editing window the old name is displayed over a black background.
Click in that box and edit the name just like you do in any text editor and when you finish hit save & exit.
This applies to any randomly generated item but special items such as Slasher, Amulet of Glory etcetera shall not show up in the game with the new name.
Randomly generated names could be very long such as,

Wizard’s Extremely Super strong plate armour of telekinesis and rabid clowns.

You may edit it down to {My Fabulous Armour} or {(Your first name)’s shining armour}
Anything cute should do better than the insane random names that include worn, destroyed and stinky bat of typing.
