I was just wondering if Larian plans on making an RPG with a mature rating? I am wondering because it seems to me that alot of gaming companies are planning some type of game that gets that M rating, whether it is because of ultra violence, sexual themes, or anything?

I know this ain't Divine related, but I didn't know where to put this. Sorry!

Howdy Brother! Ya know I kinda doubt they will, for the simple reason that they would cut a whole age group away from playing their games. I think that they would want their games to be as universal as possible. There is enough sex and explicit violence in the world already. Don't you think? Even though there is hack and slash in the game has a certain wholesomeness to it, and a humor. I personally don't want them to change that. That is 1 of the reasons I keep playing. Even in my current game, (6th go round) there are things to do that I have not done befor. Seems like I missed half the game my first couple of times! I don't need to see a bunch of blood spurting or heads rolling to enjoy the Larians games. I feel they are getting their point across without all that extra gore. I have other games for that stuff if I want to see it. Ya know?

The Larians have stated that they expect Riftrunner to have the same rating (Teen) as Divinity.

That's good actually. I am kind of alarmed at so many of the other companies opting to do Mature ratings just for the buck! You can have a good story with out ultra violence, sex, drug use, etc.

Anyway, thanks for answering.

Oh, and I have a question that is Divine Divinity related: When you kill the orcs, they rot and become mold? At least that is what it looks like to me!

I would like to have a mature rating, too.

I think that might be the armour giving it the mouldy look. Also, if you kill something hard enough (ie. do excessive damage), the body disintegrates in a fountain of blood. Try it on civilians to see it in effect.

Like on the cover of Chez Geek: "Intended for adult audiences. No actual maturity required."

To me it looks like it's the other way around, at least for US companies. The publisher/license holder/retailer forces the developer to cut alot of content for a Teen rating.

Germany, too. C&C Generals was worked in a way that the "Generals" now appear as kind of "Androids". Everything that was human in the original game has become an "Android" for the german version.

well it is a lot of fun for me. generals, that is. many may say blizzard games like starcraft or warcraft series are fun but those grow old pretty quickly to me. C&C games are still addictive to me.

the word should be 'overrated'.
