I'm not sure what kind of conversation this is supposed to yield.

Icewind Dale is an excellent game, though...
so... um... yeah.

Maybe phrasing the question would help

I know exactly what you are on about, but why did you post it?

Anyways, if you want to fist-fight people get a 3rd edition game and make monks, aka Icewind Dale 2.

I liked Icewind Dale quite a lot, but stopped it, because it didn't present much interaction except combat.

Nowadays I believe there was much potential wasted : A great setting, story, and athmosphere, but the only possible / available interaction is combat. Sad.

I wished there had been more, especially since I liked it, apart from the omnipotent combat.

Icewind Dale was precisely what it set out to be.

A hack-and-slash dungeon crawl it was touted as. No more, no less, though I'd say it does a fair job; the writing's decent, the atmosphere is nice, story's not too bad. Tactical elements of the combat are pretty fun, too. Far, far outstrips garbage the likes of Dungeon Siege or -- ha -- ToEE.

Typing in coherent English might just help.

Actually, that was a bit of a low point in the game, as far as I was concerned.

The endless combat with similar monsters in the area you just finished was about the weakest area in the game. (Though I thought the guy who is responsible for it all is a cool character with an interesting story--did you get that far?)

I think the combat gets more varied (and harder again) and the story gets better as you go along.

I loved both IWD games for some reason. I usually prefer RPGs with more story but I found the tactical aspects of the fights and the challenge of some of the more difficult ones really cool. And they are games you can leave on the HD for a while and then get back to without having to restart to remember the story Perfect when you have an hour or two for gaming... go clear a map or so.

Maybe I can guess...

You're at the Vale of Shadows and aren't sure how to coninue, you've cleared out all the rooms and are now bored? Is that it? If you haven't met Kresslrack the Wolf (or whatever his name is) yet, there is part where it is kinda confusing. In the basement of his tomb (you know it is his tomb becuase it;s the one the skeleton talks to you in), there are three pillars, and clicking around one of them (I think it's the bottom-most one) opens a door you have to go through, but it's easy to miss. Maybe that helps?

Anyways, I thought IWD was fun but that it's main weakness was the combat in the infinity engine, which I found quite lacking (I much prefer the ToEE engine myself).
