short version: several items that were labeled unique, but with white titles became normal and lost their properties and names, while those unique items with green titles retained their properties and names when switching from act 2 to act 3.

long version: the King of Fire chain armor - fire set, Princess of Fire chain gloves - fire set, Marksmans Friend leather gloves - rangers set, Zandalor's (i forgot the name) robe armor - wizards set, the unique crossbow obtained in the imp hero's home, the unique ring that i believe is received from the shaman, and the unique cutlass from somewhere in act 2 all have titles coloured white. upon reaching act 3, these items all lose their properties and become normal items of the type, including losing their name. i noticed that this does not happen for any items that have the green colored title, such as the Zandalor oak wand and the magic sword. there are several other items i have gotten in act 3, including the queen of fire sword for fire set that retain green titles, and i suspect they will remain as such when moving to act 4 while a few items with white titles labeled as unique (although they don't seem special) will likely lose their properties and title upon act shift. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" />

The items will loose their names, but not their stats. Having all items of a single set does not give you a bonus either.
It's not something that will be changed in any of the future patches I belief.

Which kind of makes the inclusion of sets completely and utterly pointless.

what is the point of set items then. that was the whole reason set items were created in diablo 2 in the first place. this traditional idea of the set items continued in dungeon siege - legends of aranna. that made the goal of pursuing the set worth doing, otherwise, they aren't special, dump them if they don't beat your other stuff.

the idea behind set items as i understood it was that each item was significant in its own right, but when the whole set was collected together, the collection completed had its own benefits, and was created as such by whatever magician or inventor needed the benefits to have made it in the first place (in the gaming universe). so, set items that are a set in name only, until the name goes away are completely and totally superfluous and spurious.

.:heh:.
