I can download beyond divinity no problem, and the CD checker runs fine at first, but when it comes to configuring my game (when you first start it) it freezes and wont let me continue. Any ideas why? I was able to play divine divinty and diablo2 fine, so how comes i cant play this! Please help!

Hi,

I hope you mean install and not download... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Does it freeze during the installation? If so, then it's the copy protection. For the protection system to work, you need to insert the CD labeled "Disc Two" (or "Game CD") and then start the game.

Before doing so, you may want to shut down programs that are known to cause protection failure, such as Norton Antivirus and Daemon Tools. This is very important.

Also, if you have more than one CD or DVD drive, the protection might require you to insert the CD in the other device.

If the protection check still fails, click the "information" button and mail the generated report to our support team: support@larian.com

Sorry, meant install not download (silly error)

Well im having the EXACT same problem that fairytoes has.

Well my problem is that my laptop isnt connected to the internet. For the most part when i need to download patches etc, i download them to a CD from a friends computer and then use that on my own laptop. My friend told me that i should try 2 download the windows XP service patch - but how can i do this if im not connected to the internet?

Any help most appreciated!

ok so finally was able to download that patch (which took forever to copy to CD from dial up may i add) and my game stil wont work. Uninstalled it, installed it, reads the CD fine, gets to the whole configuration screen, try to test it, get a message saying that theres been an error and game is exiting. This is really tedious now, and a waste of money that i really dont have.

If you're playing on a laptop with an nVidia or ATi card, please download the alternative drivers offered by the following website:

http://www.omegacorner.com

This should get the game working.
If not, please let me know. Send an email to support@larian.com and refer to this thread.

AS Lynn said, the alternative drivers for laptops sort out many problems with games (not just Beyond divinity).

You can also try (before or after you get the alternative drivers) the following....

Without trying to run the game, click on start, then Run, and type in DXDiag

Do all the tests that you can find (especially video) and see if this comes up with any errors.

If that shows that everything is fine, click on start, all programs, larian..., beyond divinity, configuration. (in otherwords, run the configuration without running the game) and see if that gives you the same error.

If it does, then at least we know where the problem is, and Larian can sort it out.

If you can get through that without any problems, try run the game afterwards... it shouldnt prompt you to run the configuration, since you have already done it, and hopefully you can start your game.

Note: when running the configuration utility, try the resolution that is the SAME as the one you run on your desktop (this causes the least hassles while fault finding). also leave FSAA mode on 0, and take the tick out of fog.

P.S. if this still gives you errors when you test, try to skip the test, by just clicking "Apply and close" and see if the game will then start.... maybe there is just some conflict while running the test.

MORE problems

so i downloaded and installed omega (well at least i think i did, i had it on all night and i didnt get a message of anything saying that it was installed. SO eventually i just had to turn the computer off, and just see, but things had been installed onto my computer.

So i put in BD, the CD gets about a quarter through and then configuration screen comes up, but the same error message i was getting previously comes up.

So i do start, shut down etc, but my computer wont shut down by itself - do this a few times, still isnt shutting down. So uninstall omega and my computer shuts down.

Try again later - install omega, same problem as 1st time round, doesnt seem to finish, so have to turn off the computer. But this time when i put in BD, the CD check takes ages to load up, and when it does load up it says theres been a disk error, and that i now have to enter a CD key. Its NEVER told me before i have to enter a CD key, so WHY is it telling me to now?

Any other ideas? Thinking was a waste of money buying this and im just gonna have to sell it. Great.

Could you let us know which error exactly you get?

And can you send me a dxdiag report so I can see if there aren't any driver conflicts? You can generate a dxdiag report by pressing:
Start / Run
Type “dxdiag”
The report is being generated now
Save this info to your desktop and email the file to support@larian.com

Ran the test last night and this what came up when i ran two of the tests:

Under tag display – test direct 3D

Direct X diagnostic tool
The test to use hardware-accelerated Direct 3D 9 was skipped because the display driver does not support it. Your may be able to get a newer driver from the hardware manufacturer.

Direct X diagnostic Tool.
Your sound card does not support hardware buffering. Sounds will only play back from the software buffers.

And lynn i ll send you the dxdiag report in a wee bit.

Ok, email received and replied to <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

You need to update your drivers. Please have a look at the following website to update the drivers for your graphical card.

Look for the following at this page: "Twister Graphics Drivers For Windows XP"

That should solve your problem.

The problem is with your graphical card. If you will lower your settings (in the config tool), it might solve the problem.

Let us know if it helps you.
