Bram Stoke's Dracula. It's a vampiremovie. Spookier than most vampiremovies. It's based on the old classical Draculabook, I think.

I went to the movies yesterday night (the new complex in Roeselare) and I saw 'War of the Worlds'. WOOOOW!!!
I was very impressed by this movie and also from Dakota Fanning. She is really a natural talent.
This is one of the best movies I ever saw. You really have to see it!

@ Lady Sarah
The "Stepford Wives" is a great movie.

I went to the movies and saw ... *drum roll* ... The Fantastic Four!

It was pretty good, funny. I liked it; I'd watch it again. They did a really good job with how everyone was coping with the change. And I wont say more as to not spoil anything for those who have not watched it.

Also, belive it or not, I just saw Road Trip. *gasp* he's only watched it just now? Yup, first time. Very funny. Thats all that need be said.

Then, Club Dread. I forgot this movie existed. It was funny, but its not a movie you watch again and again and again and again and again etcetera. Its just a movie you watch again and again and thats it.

Ooo ooo! I watched a very good black and white movie called THE BAT with Vincent Price, a remarkable actor for his time. He acted in those old movies like the actors today. Amazing on his part. I was very impressed. I've also watched HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL that had him in it (not the new one, the original). Very good actor. These movies were made in the '50s!!!

Yeah Dragh, this new complex is only a month old, so I don't know if you saw that already. It's only a few meters from the old Cityscoop. I like the red carpets all over the place and the new seats are just perfect!! (they have even cupholders to hold your drinks!!)

I rented 5 movies...

Be Cool: It was a funny movie, and all about keeping it cool. I was expecting more, but it was acceptible. Many big actors. I think Get Shorty was better (the prequal).

Wayne's World 2: Also funny. With Mike Myers and the guy from The Master of Disguise, it was 'odd and fun, all in one'! Yaay, a rhyme! I actually haven't seen the first one...

Cursed: It was not bad. They had very good ideas and put the old fashionned werewolf type concept in too. It was more of a funny-horror though; sort of the way the Scream trio was a funny scare. I was hoping for a darkness type horror with no happiness... Yea, thats what a horror is supposed to be. Sort of like The Ring or The Grudge. Oh well, good enough.

Assult On Presinct 13: Very good! This one I was impressed with. Good acting. Good action. Good stuff. This action packed movie is a must see! I'm a commercial!!

AppleSeed: This is an Anime-type movie. Most people think: "Eww, its a cartoon so it sucks!" but they don't know that the Anime movies are actually some of the best. They are very artistic and symbolic, and always have amazing storylines (at least the action ones do). This one fits all my compliments. Incidently, I also recommend Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within. Both have tones of action, sybolism, and a great story. Also the Cowboy Beebop movie. But of course you can't be one of those over critical type of people to appreciate the sybolism in these movies. You can't disreguard their greatness because they're cartoons.

I saw "Alexander", I expected more of this movie, but it was good to watch on a rainy day.
I also watched "Fiddler on the Roof" again. It was since my childhood that I saw the movie, and I still liked it very much.

i saw 2 movies today.
1 at the theaters, the fantastic 4.
i loved the F4, because i collected all of theire commics when i was a bit younger.
ofcours the movie takes a different story then the books have told. but i can see many parts of the commic stories, wich the story writers have pasted in the main movie. this is defenitely not the latest movie , because of the end plot.(if the movie makes enought monney that is...)

and one just finished watching; ghost in the shell2. lot's of philosofical talk, matrix style. beautifull made. but hard to follow...

I saw Constantine and Meet The Fockers last weekend.

Const. was ok, not awsome but entertaining.
MTF on the other hand was bad. hardly laughed at all, it's not a worthy sequel. Rober DN and Dustin H Make it ok though

I watched "Colditz" yesterday. It's a mini serie about some soldiers in the second WW. Was very good. One of the starring characters played also in Band of Brothers.
If you like the WWII theme, you should go for it.

I just saw the new War of the Worlds film.

I had my reservations about it at first but it turned out to be very good, despite the usual spielberg sentimentality scenes.

i just saw armageddon..
few, what a big dissapointment that is!!
The thing that happend on that commet, was a bit too mutch of it.
if it was a scifi-movie, some things could be true.
but it was a disaster movie with the equipment of this time..
and that was a big bummer....

Last night I watched The Ninth Configuration, a (hilarious) comedy and 'theological thriller', for the fourth time. This is the only movie I ever watched twice in a row (of course I've watched a movie and special features back to back; with Final Fantasy I even watched the movie and 2 of the 3 full length commentaries in a row). There are a few WTF moments that you don't get until the end of the movie (if you haven't seen it before) and stuff going on you don't necessarily catch all of right away.
It is set in an insane asylum towards the end of the Vietnam war, with one of the inmates adapting the works of Shakespeare for dogs. The 2 main characters (primarily) get into the nature of good and evil and whether or not god exists (would go well with the Evolution vs creationism topic). It has a bit of a sucky ending, but overall it is a very good movie.

After that I watched Laser Mission, about a freelance agent sent to "...recover the scientist who holds the deadly formula that could destroy the world". The scientist in question is a physicist who worked on lasers, kidnapped to force into developing a weapon using his knowledge and the largest diamond in the world (fist sized).
If rubies can be used to make lasers, then obviously diamonds make the best lasers.
This movie features bad acting, bad dialog, bad writing and bad special effects... all the things that make a good B movie. Even though it stars Brandon Lee, there are only a couple of fights, and they are poorly done. Overall it is an ok B movie, but needs fewer car chases and more martial arts.

I love to rent 5 movies from Eye On Video. So I'll advertise for them a bit before I start my movie criticisms.
Five old movies for 5$!
Five relatively new movies for 10$!
Those are the '5' deals. Nice huh?

So, the five I watched...

The Life Aquatic : I was extreamly dissapointed. How could they screw up with so many good actors. I... I didn't know it was possible, OK? Sure there were a few parts that you'll give a polite laugh too so you don't hurt the movies feelings, but over all it sucked. Way too booring. I was sad...

The Day After Tomorrow : Not the first time I've seen it. It was very interesting. Some people were overcritical about it, saying it wasn't interesting, but I beg to differ. The most fascinating part is that it makes some scientific sense that it may happen in the future! I love it when the movies can have some sort of true or untrue scientific evidence that the event is possible.

Hitch : Again, not for the first time. I was dissapointed again. Not that it wasn't good. I was just expecting better. It was funny, oh yes. And had a good storyline. There was just too much falling in love! Its all well and good, but not what I want to be entertained with! But, I'll say again, just because I didn't enjoy it, it doesn't mean it was a bad movie.

Friday Night Lights : A very well done movie, though I wasn't surprised when... Spoiler : they lost in the end . Its happend in too many movies already to be a big surprise anymore. But overall it was good in story and sports action.

Full Metal Alchemist - The Curse : I know this is a series, but I rented it as a movie so I'll refer to it as one! It is the first four episodes. Another Anime (can't get enough! ). It was very good. It contains some of the childish fun that alot of Anime series have, but it also carried with it an awsome story and great stuff.

Killerzzz

P.S.: Know what I find unfortunate? Alot of people think Anime is pornographic because of some unexpected pop-ups you see on the internet with the word ANIME stamped on it. Please don't get the wrong impression. I've mentioned many anime movies farther up that don't contain a hint of that type of vulgarity.
I know I'm defending anime alot, but I only do that because it is less known of.

Well, LOTR is defenitly my favo movie of all times!! Nothing can beat that trilogy!!
And then there is also Forrest Gump, on my top 20 list. I have seen that movie like 30 times and I still love it! "One day it started raining, and it didn't quit for four months..."
From there on, I have such a variety on tastes, but something that is not my taste, is the kind of movies like Wayne's World, or Naked Gun (nothing with Leslie Nielsen in it ) or Porky's, that kind a humour is not for me. Also types like Married with Children are good to make me vomit!
If you want to make me laugh, give me a show like Friends or SATC. And I do have a big taste in movies, movies is my favo topic to talk about!

I agree that they can be very... unlikable. I like to be open with my opinions of movies. The fact that I said that The Life Aquatic was a little funny is an example of that. I didn't really enjoy Wayne's World 2 as much as a movie should make me entertained.
On that note, I'm even now not so entertained by Austin Powers 1 and 2. I find three funny, but all the first two have for me are a few good funny parts. The others are just cheap laughs.

You metionned you liked Forest Gump. Have you seen The Green Mile (also with Tom Hanks)? That was also a good one. The only kind of movie I don't like is the type where theres no good story. If theres a good story, then I'll enjoy it. No action needed, no comedy needed (though they help); just a good story and some interesting theories.

To stay on subject of this thread...:

I've watched The Langoliers lately. It could easily be classified as boring if you can't appreciate the amazing idea and story and theories it contains. I liked it. Though the cruddy graphics of the actual Langoliers in the movie do the book no justice.

I think I saw most of Tom Hanks's movies. From Splash, Joe versus the volcano, Sleepless in Seattle to The Terminal, Cast away, and even The ladykillers, allthought that last one was not really one of his best, it was actually one of is worst movies ever, if I may say so. I loved the Green Mile, especially the big black guy in it, Michael Clarke Duncan, he was just that kind of teddybear that you would keep hugging I had fun with what the guards did to Percy Wetmore

If there is a comedy that would alawys make me laugh, it's one with Jacky Chan in it. He is sooo funny, even if he acts very serious, you can see in his face that he like to have fun. He has those twinklings in his eyes...

Yaaaay Jackie Chan. Yea, I think its spelled Jackie . Iunno.

His movies are always funny, especially his older ones. I enjoyed his newer ones, but they have been going a little downhill rather than up... Too bad.

Latest movie I've seen:

Wedding Crashers !!!! Extremely funny movie. Too bad it all had to be sexual funny. It doesn't bother me, but then you can't enjoy it with a lot of other people who are offended by it... Meh, oh well. Good movie.
