Now I'm pretty sure I'd like the books to a point, but I thought all the films were terrible. The first 2 being particularly jumbled and incoherent. Watching them I could tell they tried to fit everything possible from the books in, and what happens is you get a mish-mashed load of scenes with gaps.

Plowie, so they did, but they did a terrible job at it too. They took scenes in the wrong turn, emphsised on the wrong things, while leaving some important things out completelly. I didn't like the first film, and I totally hated the second.

And if you've read a book so much you remember every detail of it (like me, who had read the first book like ten times when I saw the first movie), you shouldn't see it, because it will only dissappoint you.

@ Plow

You should read the books, I may be 23 (almost 24!!! Dec 29th) but I have never enjoyed reading anything more. I literally laugh out loud while I read them. The story is enthralling as well. Let me put it this way, the 5th book (order of the Pheonix) is around 600 pages I think, maybe longer and I read it in less than 24 hours, I actually called in sick to work to finish it.

Best fantasy books ever IMO

The Weel of Time is better...

And the books is really easy to read. After all, first hand they ARE kids books. That's allso why the story is a bit... too comfortable. It allways starts after the whorst summer ever, and it the end it might allways be the best summer ever (you'd think he'd see a pattern after four summers seeming more promising than ever turning out whorse than ever...). But despite this, it is good books. I enjoyed them more a couple of years ago though (MUCH more). But still, I will wish for the sixth book this christmass. Wonder when I'll get time to read it though. Starting a big litteraturework in school soon, I'm supposed to read eight novels until May.

I once saw/read a quote/interview with someone (don't recall who, and couldn't find the quote in a quick google search), who said something to the effect that 'watching your book being turned into a movie is like watching your child being torn apart by wild dogs'.

I gave up on that series pretty quickly (after 3rd book) - wasn't for me.

My brother has read the potter books and says they are very good (and he's 34).

He also liked the Wheel of Time however...

Still I'd rather read the potter books because I know they are mainly for kids and enjoy them, than read the Wheel of Time and be dreadfully disappointed that they turned out to be too kiddie for me!

Saw 2 : Just as devilishly fascinating as the first one. Its grusome and disgusting but interesting to see the psychology of the man behind the trap. The Saw movies are basically about a man who kidnaps people who don't appreciate their life, and puts them in an amazing puzzel-situation. They will have to undertake much self-sacrifice and pain to get through. Will they?...

Harry Potter : The Goblet of Fire :

So yeah I admit that I am a huge dork and I went and saw Goblet of Fire friday (opening night). But anyway...I have read all the books...multiple times and yeah dont get me wrong the movie was entertaining and all but it was way too much teen drama and not enough of telling the story. And of course having read the book I for some reason remember every little detail and the movie drove me crazy at how poorly it reflected the book. If you havent read any of them you will likely love the movie, personally I enjoy the books so much that since they changed directors after the second one I have not been impressed...oh and the casting of characters has bugged me too, everything is over dramatized...again too much teen drama not enough story...they try and fit so much of the crap in that the movie doesnt even feel coherent...they have to jump from scene to scene without so much as an indent!!!

WHO SAID THIS? NERO??
I could't have put it better my man. Its my thoughts exactly. You know what? They should have made it a half hour longer (its already 2 and a half hours long, what difference will a total of 3 hours make?); that way they could have added in alot more Harry Potter storyline.
If you agree, give me a 'Yay!' and if you don't, give a 'Nay!'.
One positive thing to say on it though: the new Dumbeldore did better in this one than he did in Harry Potter 3. Good for him, noone cares.
Enjoyed the movie though.

Thats all for now.

@ Nero
You certainly are not a dork for seeing a Harry Potter movie. They are all about fantasy and magic, so be a boy for once and enjoy it. Have fun!!

I'm watching Sin city as I speak, and I must say, the movie isn't bad at all, but a little too violent for me though. It made me think about that pc-game Max Payne too.
There was one thing that striked me the most.
You all know how our friend Mea is a big fan of Jessica alba, right? Well, allthough I don't know how Mea looks like, but I see a big resemblance with Hartigan here

Amen - to sum up what it's about I quote from wikipedia:

Kurt Gerstein (August 11, 1905 in Münster, Westfalia - July 25, 1945), was a member of the Institute for Hygiene of the Waffen-SS and witnessed mass murders in the concentration camps Belzec and Treblinka. He is said to have contacted a Swedish diplomat as well as members of the Catholic Church with contacts to Pope Pius XII in order to inform the international public about the holocaust. In 1945 he wrote the Gerstein Report about this. Afterward he committed suicide.

A semi-fictional movie about his emotional search of his Christian values and ultimate decision to betray the SS by attempting to expose the Holocaust by way of informing the Catholic Church, Amen, was released in 2002, starring Ulrich Tukur as Kurt Gerstein and directed by Costa-Gavras.

Great movie!

Ah yes, that was indeed a great film. Also starring Matthieu Kassovitch. One to see.

Matthieu Kassovitch is probably best known (well in Belgium anyway) for hir role in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain.
One to see indeed Wazzz

Saw The Usuall Suspects yesterday. It's about Kevin Spacey, who is a cripple and a scammer. The film is based around him sitting in a police office telling about what happened for the last two weeks (or so). It all started with five robbers (somewhat like him) being taken in for a stolen weapond transport.

DON'T READ THIS IF YOU'RE GOING TO SEE THE MOVIE (and if you havn't, I reccomend doing it, it was really good IMO):

Spoiler : Thinking of the end of the movie, you're really wondering how much of Spacey's story was true.

I watched "The Fantastic 4". Really great, I like the comic book characters of late and now I know why Mea likes Jessica Alba soo much, with that suit on, she looked yummie (if a girl can say that about another ) Not that she didn't look good in Sin City
Here you go Mea, for you! Enjoy!
