You need the skill "Enchant weapon" warrior path Kiya As the old link for the bug fix doesn't work anymore:And here is Dave's bug fix, if your pop up enchanting window works off-screen I've posted a reply to this on the technical forum. The short answer is that the pop ups are appearing 'off screen'. You need to close the program edit the config file to increase the screen resolution (if you are already at 1024, you can increase to 1600). Restart the program, click on a item that can be charmed, move it nearer the centre of the screen (check that it reappears here when you close it). Shut down the game reset the resolution and away you go - took me ages to figure it out. I got frustrated when I played one game the whole way through with no charms and then when I started the game again I had the same problem.

kiya, thanx for explaining the Charm technique. Now I have to get up a level to use them, DOH.
Another thing, I am running an ATI Radeon 9000 128mb and when I try to configure the game to run DD, the angel picture doesn't show up when I set it to Direct3D. I have both 8X and 9X on my system. Currently, I am using the Software mode to play the game, but after a few hours like 2, the game crashes and I have to restart the game.
Anyone have any ideas how I can set the config to Direct3D and stop making the game crash.
BTW: I have patch 1.32.
Thanx Phoenen

I believe the game itself works fine with Radeon video cards, it is just the configuration program that has a problem. Check the Skip Test box in the configuration program after selecting the mode, click the Test button, then Apply & Close.

D3D works fine with my Radeon 8500. Have used it without problems with DX8.1 and DX9. Way better than running in software mode. Good advice above about running the config and ignoring the test.

Raze and everyone, thanx for your input. The game runs on Direct3D now and it runs fine and saving is a bit quicker as well.
Now I have to level up becuase the damn Holy Grail quest with a bunch of Mummies hammered me once, so I got to get stronger and get a better weapon.
Another thing, I have a shield that says "This part is a piece of the dragon slayer set" or "Dragon set", is this set any good? I am using a two-handed sword, so the stats of the shield aren't loss, which is SWEET.
Again thanx everyone.

I think the glitch with the configuration program's test is due to Divinity being designed before the Radeon cards were out. Hopefully the next patch will fix this. You can click on the grail and toss it towards the door a couple times, then pick it up and leave when you are close. Or grab it and use a shadow potion. As a warrior I let them surround me and used my spin attack a few times. If you grab it and run to the back of the room, you should only be followed by a couple mummies, then you can slowly make your way back killing them a few at a time. Same thing if you leave and return. There are some good one handed swords around, so keep the shield until you can put it to use. Also, when you equip all 5 pieces of the Dragon armour set, you learn a level in Elemental Strike and get some experience. BTW, are you using Restoration potions, rather than health/mana?

No, you can't take them out again - but the silver ones are just second best - Kistandalius sells them sometimes and in the endarea of the game you get the best ones: gold. Kiya

while we are on the charm thing...would it be a good idea that after you use your charms to enhance an item.....i don't know... ...but it sure would be nice to see what charms are in the slots, later on....if you mouse over an opened charm box, onto a charm there is no description... ......maybe this belongs in the suggestions page....

There is a book about the charms, including colors, names and symbols (although it doesn't have pictures of the symbols)...gosh, I can't remember exactly where I picked it up...I think it was either the church behind the Cursed Abbey or the Cursed Abbey itself. I just put the thing in my pack so I could refer to it. I'm sorry I don't have a clearer explanation as to its location, but check out that area! I'm fairly certain it was in the church basement...good luck!

I saw it after I grabbed a nice 5 charm Strange Amulet Mardec. I read it for a while, dragged it into my inventory and went to Ars Magicana to see the wizard.

There are several items I would not put anything less than a large charm in. The items I put large charms in are generally the charmable amulets I find throughout the game, various weapons that can be charmed, and the magic armor and shield sold by the merchants in Ars Magicana. The items I don't charm until I get gold / very large charms are: Any part of the full Dragon armor set (I reload so as to get 5 charm slots in each piece). The plate leggings in the same room as the Dragonrider in the Imp's Castle (I also reload for this one, since nice plate leggings are so hard to find). The ruby amulet in the Stormfist Castle, in Janus's mother's closet (it matches the dragon armor nicely after the armor's been upgraded ). The Sword of Gods. Drool...

Only items with a charm quality can be enchanted by using the runes. For each open slot you need one enchant weapon skill level (warrior path). Kiya

Nope, why should I get mad? Myrthos already found a solution for that article and he's far more experienced in graphics than I am.
I'm not good at understanding vast graphic programs - had my Armaggedon at Photoshop Elements 2.0 already. The charm runes hunt is over Kiya

Hello folks,
I'm a mage level 30 or so and I have bought the YIT-ICERI (100000 bucks!). What equipment is worth using it for? As I know, I cannot undo my improvement/enchantement so I don't want to waste it.
At the moment I have only little strength and dexterity, but good intelligence:
str 37 dex 22 int 91 con 68
Thanks for your help!

Normaly the pieces of the Dragon Armour, or the Larian/Silver Armour.
But at the fact that it is every Skill of Weapons/Armours are random based, there is no way to promise that you dont find a better Weapon/Armour.
So, at last, it is every time a risk to use the Runes. And that is just like in real life.
