Hi all,

Due to some (minor but sometimes annoying) forum issues lately, and of course because the boards were rather outdated, we have upgraded the forum.
The looks of the forum still might change and special smilies will be added. If you notice strange things, just let us know in this thread.

Thanks and enjoy the new boards,
Lynn

What happened to titles? Also, what happened to the "who's online"? frown

One part of my youth destroyed... cry

Anyway, you might consider makeing a darker design, this one is far too bright IMO. Not that it looks bad (well, I think so, but I'm biased laugh ) but some pepole get a headache from too bright designs. One option there is to add another, much darker design and give pepole the option to choose between the two.

But I suspect you're allready way ahead of me... laugh

Oh, and one weird thing I noticed is smilies. If you add the code for a smilie and then directly adds something else (like this :D), then the smilie doesn't show.

We are still busy improving the looks of the forum and getting rid of little inconveniences like e.g. the length of a signature.
We still have to put in redirect scripts that will forward any odd bookmarks or search engine links to the proper location in the new software. Please have some patience.
The other possibility was doing it all behind the scenes and close down the boards completely for a couple of days, that we didn't want to do.

Everything will be ok in the end wink

It would be for the best to keep your images relatively small. Please do not exceed 125 x 600 pixels and/or 35k for a signature image. This will ensure that the forums load quickly for all users.

That's not the problem, the problem is that to link it it takes up more then 100 characters =/ It' 115.

I've had this signature for like 2 years, and right now I can't even edit my profile because of this.

Can we have the old smilieys back ? Pleeeaaase ....

Edit: In Opera, everything seems to look quite fine, except some links at the bottom in the same colour like the blue background colour ...

Edit: The new dark stylesheet looks imho GREAT ! smile

It reminds me of ye olde LMK forum colours, and those of the first Larian forum, by the way ...

Only 100 character profile? My quote (which isn't that long) is allmost twice that. eek Edit: OK, I though I had another quote in my profile. But still, 100 characters is damn short!

Not to mention that I want the old smilies back! laugh

Nice new forum. But some some things bother me.

The new forum really sticks to the edges of the screen. Maybe a border or some space around the edges

The avatar section (black square in the dark css) is a bit big.

Maybe it's because I am watching it at 1680*1050 confused

One feature I miss from the old forum is the ability to choose which forums to show. So I could (for instance) choose not to show the non-english forums. Now the chat section is a looooong way down, since a lot of unecesary forums (for me) is displayed.

You can still choose which forums to show.

In the main forum list, to the far right of each forum section title is a small triangle which you can click to minimize or maximize that section. It may be hard to see, being sort of dark goldish on a dark blue background, but if you select / highlight the entire page (ctrl-a), it should be clearly visible. Alternately, just move you mouse over that area until the cursor changes it indicate something clickable.

The font size of the main layout/design/stylesheet is imho too big. Far too big for my own taste, especially on the buttons and forum links/menus.

My biggest problem with the new boards was finding my password so I could log in! smile

While the look of the place isn't quite comfortable yet -- and I'm sure Lynn will set that to rights soon enough --, it seems there are some nice touches in the new version of the software. The handling of spoilers, for example. And the "active topics" selector's placement at the top of the screen.

Also pleased to see that the site looks pretty much the same whichever browser I use... The old forum had minor differences for the most part, but I always noticed that spoilers were never hidden if I used Opera (which I usually do).

Alrik found out that the dark style is much better on the eyes, maybe that could be made the default for now? You can change it via My Stuff -> My Preferences -> Your preferred stylesheet.
