Ehm,hmm. I guess as Commander of the Divine Order we are a faceless person of authority and any gender and race we want^^. Just a regular bloke, who got the job when Dhallis wasn't anywhere to find and everybody else got killed by the Godwoken and co laugh.

This looks and sounds more like XCOM than anything else. Xcom you basically play a nameless commander, choose an arena on the world map, and fight aliens on that map. There is zero personal story, and the only people you talked to were the specialists, that you only spoke with to upgrade your armor and weapons. I'm assuming the origin characters will basically feel the specialist role, while they offer you missions that unlock blank slate characters that fill the combat roles. That is honestly a step back from what DOS2 is/offers.

Well yeah, no one has claimed that it was another personal story-driven RPG like DOS 2. The thread title literally says "Divinity meets XCOM". It can only fit so many words.

It's an XCOM like game which uses the Divinity characters and setting, Dragon Commander's branching decision system, and the combat is mission-based with specific objectives in the style of XCOM with a variation on Divinity's ruleset.

I wouldn't totally count out a protagonist. The game was also compared to FF Tactics , and while it was limited to squad missions with no exploration outside picking dots on a global map, none the less had a protagonist with a personal story arc.

A shame that all the relationship building that took place in DOSII gets left behind, but I am pleased we'll be abe to see the characters progress in the new story.

(But seriously, what was the god-sotting favor Malady wanted!? I know, I know, no answer yet.

Well you have to admit that we were efficient at killing those jerks, but I hope they do what Mass Effect did with that whole savegame transfer thing.

Maybe THIS is the favor laugh? Since she implied, that she had a bigger demon over her (either Damian or Asmodeus), I always thought, that she was either working for Asmodeus or Damian and that we have to try to get her old boss of her back (and will only partially succeed, because he's still around, so maybe this plot will conclude in Divinity 3). Makes the most sense for me.

At least we can use the story's structure to write our own timelines for the amazing world of Rivellon and the fact that we can do it shows that Larian devs are aware of our feelings and dedication.
