Originally I posted this to the general discussions on steam in case anyone else could chime in with info and I went about recreating the steps to reproduce it multiple times.

So I think I've figured it out to the point that I can replicate it everytime.

After these screenshots I attempted it one last time and all I did was make sure I was close to the table with my body blocking the physical location of the potion and I clicked where it would be without using ALT at all.

I think the character position in relation to the potion is what is causing it to use the potion instead of looting it.

Thank you. I was able to reproduce this behaviour in a new game, and will create a bug report.
