I personally didn't like DOS2. Boring characters, banal fantasy setting, uninteresting story (too ironic and sarcastic for me). But this first test of the early access of baldur's gate 3 convinced me. I've made a list of the things I liked and the things that should change in the final game.
THINGS THAT WORK:
- Better characterization of the party members
- More dark and interesting narrative
- More verticality maps design
- (Finally) first-person dialogues
- The mechanic of throwing the dice during fights and in dialogue
- The mechanic of having a base camp to rest / talk to the NPCs encountered in the game
- Romance mecchanics
- HUD / interface design
THINGS THAT DON'T WORK:
- NPC animations
- Quest indicator
- Setting too much similar to DOS2
- Graphics too much similar to DOS2
- Offensive magic spells not very scenic
- Party inventory interface too confusing
