I liked the DD demo. It made me buy the full game.

You sure you're in the right bard, Jefklak, if you say DD demo is bad and defend Lioneart?

A joke, yes, yet it has a grain of truth.

Yes I am. Be honest, the worse part of a RPG game is usual the beginning. Especially DD (Well, other RPG players say that too at least - I'm not the only one!) - the first dungeon. I didn't like it.

But still, the demo made me buy the game too thanks to the "look&feel" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
You have to wait for the full version of Lionheart to judge. It's like a bèta - I read somewhere the devs didn't have time to finish the demo and well, to "make the demo look good".

Yust wait. Believe me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
I am not saying the final will be better, but it might be, yes.

hi guys & gals. janggut here to report on his brief outing with lionheart.

first of all the game's pretty great if not for the lame animation. the character poses in such a lame way that it looks a lot like freeze frame of someone half way through a step. there's no defensive pose or aggresive pose or just relaxed pose. it has to look like freeze frame. this is a rude surprise from black isle.

however, the game has more than enough good points to make it worthwhile.

preset characters are great. i have yet to try customising characters but will do when i've the time. anyway u have the usual option of characters which emphasise on either melee, ranged, or different schools of magic.

the way i see it, u gotta have combat skills. the part on stealth/sneak is good for only a while & it depends on the encounter. if u meet a high level enemy (e.g. ogre), chances are u'll get spotted anyway.

i've played characters that emphasised melee, or ranged, or magic. all worked. yes combat is hard but that's the fun factor: how to deal with baddies? honestly combat in lionheart is what i want in RRR. unless RRR can be better.

i find that melee is just as hard as ranged. & mage of either any school isn't a retard as well. i've finished the demo by using melee, ranged & lightning magic characters. i don't see either one being easier or harder to play, just different. & that's a great thing as this means HOW u play can determine the outcome. in situations where u're overwhelmed, for jurak's sake, just run damnit. come back later when u've collected your wits. retreat doesn't mean cowardice, it's part of strategy. read sun tzu.

playing different races means your stat & skill point increment as well as advantage in certain skill areas are different. i won't go into this as i think u can go to myrthos's rpgdot website to read the previews.

my conclusion is that this game is great & i'll be having a blast playing it when it comes out although i hope something can be done about the character animation.

The thing why you probably don't like the first dungeon is that you have to do it first (except for a few short quests), this is in a lot of rpg's. First there is a dungeon or something which you have to start with and when you have done that, the whole world comes open so then you can choose to go to this town or that town or do that quest and such. But in the start of the game you have to do that one dungeon.

So if you play the rpg out for a 5 times you first have to finish the dungeon, where you know every secret, and where you know where all the monsters stand and such.

Some german mags have the Demo on their CD-ROM. Someone living near Germany could make a trip into "unkown territory" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> and buy it, then ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
